Frozen Meditation

Hey there, so I'm working on this new spell (using default WE) that basically freezes a unit in place, then heals it for 60% of it's health/mana over 8 seconds. After 8 seconds, the unit unfreezes and goes on his merry way. Tried basing the ability off purge and used dummy casters and what not but got frustrated. Ideas? Thanks much!

Enemy unit? Allied unit? All units?

I don't quite know what you're talking about :p

Did you attempt this yourself? If you did can we see the trigger?

Dummy casters don't seem necessary. This spell right now looks like it would utilize unit custom values using 2 triggers or jass timers.

Sure, I tried it myself. And I want it to work on allied AND enemy units. Prepare to not be amazed...
Trigger:
  • Frozen Meditation Effect Copy
    • Events
      • Unit - A unit Starts the effect of an ability
    • Conditions
      • (Ability being cast) Equal to Frozen Solitude
    • Actions
      • Unit - Create 1 Stun Dummy for Player 11 (Dark Green) at (Position of (Target unit of ability being cast)) facing Default building facing degrees
      • Unit - Order (Last created unit) to Attack Once (Target unit of ability being cast)
      • Animation - Change (Target unit of ability being cast)'s animation speed to 0.00% of its original speed
      • Unit - Add Health Regeneration (Neutral) to (Target unit of ability being cast)
      • Unit - Add Mana Regeneration Self Aura (Neutral) to (Target unit of ability being cast)
      • Wait 8.00 seconds
      • Animation - Change (Target unit of ability being cast)'s animation speed to 100.00% of its original speed
      • Unit - Remove Health Regeneration (Neutral) from (Target unit of ability being cast)
      • Unit - Remove Mana Regeneration Self Aura (Neutral) from (Target unit of ability being cast)
      • Unit - Remove (Last created unit) from the game


EDIT: Oh, and the model of the dummy unit is the Ice Nova spell. Any way to get this animation to persist?

changing its animation won't make it stop. You need to actually change the movespeed to 0. It is found under unit.

Sorry let me be clearer, nothing in this spell seems to work right. The dummy unit has a 100% stun on attack (bash), which is what is supposed to immobilize the unit.

Don't resort to spells when it can be done through a trigger easily.

Try using unit - pause unit
and create a special effect on the unit.
The position should be overhead with the stun model, and then destroy the effect 8 seconds afterwards.

The major problem I'm seeing with the spell is that it's not MUI or MPI. Is this a singleplayer map?

Aaaanyway.. Your trigger seems fine for singleplayer.

If you want, I can try to make you a good Jass trigger, provided you have newgen of course.

I don't use Jass, but thanks. No it is not a singleplayer map, but it doesn't matter because it doesn't work! :p And I can't use pause... tried but caused a whole mess of problems (not uncommon with pause function) which is why I resorted to the dummy. Maybe I should just scrap this...:banghead:

set temp_unit = triggering unit
set temp_target = target unit of ability being cast
set temp_integer = 0.6 x integer(life of temp_target)
set temp_integer2 = 0.6 x integer(mana of temp_target)
pause temp_target
add event to Trigger 2 equal to time - every 1 second of game time
wait 8 seconds
remove event from Trigger 2 (if this is possible, tell me if it isn't I'm using freehand so I forgot :p)
unpause temp_target

set life of temp_target to life of temp_target + 8/temp_integer
set mana of temp_target to mana of temp_target + 8/temp_integer

I have finally decided I suck.. I need to learn structs and there are no good hashtable systems out there. Once I get that out of the way I can make spells.

GUI tags should help even if it's freehand. Makes it not burn out your eyeballs

Ah, Woops, well just change the base spell to like holy light or something.
As for the invulnerability.. I had the idea in my head that it made them invulnerable, haha. Oh wells, not really massive detrimentals are they?

Thanks for the demo map! It just needs to be targeted and have some kind of animation. I'll tweak it myself, just hope I can find a way to make it MUI. But thank you all for the help! :D
