It will never happen, I'd bet on it...
Most of the population is non-atheist, meaning they believe in god. Therefore, an outstanding atheist wouldn't have a chance in any form of government position.

Socialism: refers to the various theories of economic organization which advocate either public or direct worker ownership and administration of the means of production and allocation of resources.

Healthcare is a resource. The government wants to regulate it to the point that private groups will no longer be able to compete with the low costs that the US will be able to offer (paid for in part by taxes not just what they charge as insurance costs).

I consider it funny when people refer to countires like America, England, Aussie, NZ and stuff as "left and right wing" because in all honesty it makes hardly any difference.

Most MEDC's are right on the scale though, but not dramatically. and interestingly enough, even though Obama is considered left.. look at this political compass.

Also you must remember that it doesn't neccarily matter that Obama is left wing or w/e, because you live in a democracy which means that they have to make decision as a whole and pass it through the senate before it is set in stone, so Obama doesn't really control all this..
