internet connection fails.

i've gotten this problem many times already.

sometimes, this screen just shows up as i'm connected to the 'net (we have only a dial-up connection).

the connection stays for about 5 minutes but after that, the connection fails but the taskbar icon is still there. when i click the icon or attempt to reconnect, the status dialog box shows and closes in the blink of an eye.

also, after a few more minutes the interface of windows xp (curvy and blue) switches to an earlier version (boxy, light gray) and switches back.

to connect to the 'net again, i have to restart the computer and manually reconnect.

can somebody help me???

This could be one in a million things.

Do the normal things like stoping all of the process's that you dont need running and running antivirus and anti spyware.

I tend to find that the problem will normally keep coming back...and the only way to get rid of it completly is to reinstall windows
