I need yo know how to add inventory slots to regular units(Ex: a riflemen)

under unit its inventory (hero) or hero inventory.
but if this unit uses an item which would add str, agi, int, exp, lvl, etc. Warcraft 3 will have a critical error.

Modify the Unit Inventory ability and use that.

On your unit near the top there'll be a feild called: "Abilities - Normal" Just add "Inventory (Hero)" to it. Look for it on the list.

Or, you could make a custom hero with your unit's abilities and crap so it can use tomes so there wont be a critical error, but thats alot of work for every unit you want to have an inventory.

There are no critical error in that case.

I played a map where you can hire mercenarys and they have inventory, but they aren't heros. When I got a tome with the mercenary Wc3 gave me a critical error...

And, as some people asked before, you want the unit to carry items, or use them? Because there is a "unit inventory" skill that makes the units able to get items, but they cant use or get any benefict from them.
