Hi everyone.

I recently became a proud owner of an amazing Nuon Machine, the Samsung N505 model (I live in Spain, it is the only model I can get here) and started my odyssey to get a controller for it ... and it is almost impossible or ridiculously expensive.

So I'll try something different, my idea is to try to get a wingman logitech pc controller and avoid the proprietary nuon ports (my system doesn't have game ports anyway) and make a homemade solution out of it. The only problem is the proprietary Polyface microcontroller chip. I know there are large batches of this Polyface microcontroller somewhere and some members of this forum had some of these. And here is the question.

Where can I buy one (or maybe two if possible) to make my dream nuon controller? I don't care about the price. Can I buy one of them from some member of this forum ??? If possible, contact me, I will always be grateful.

Any help you can give will be enormous

Thank you very much to everyone in this forum who keeps Nuon alive !!

i have emailed all the places that show to have them, and got zero reponse. There is a guy that has new controller project in the works, but appears to be delayed and he is not in this group as far as I know, at least not actively. i finally broke down and paid dearly for a couple extra controllers not long ago.

would you be willing to trade your 505 for one of my 501 units? i would throw in a game for you and send you a disc full of homebrew games I downloaded from this forum, you would have to burn them to your own cd-rs. it would involve you shipping to the states and me shipping to europe. will show a video of mine working before shipping.

Thanks for the reply

Ok, I'll try to contact him (the Yak controller creator) and if possible get a replacement unit.

have you tried this ?:

maybe we can join the order, I don't know what the minimum order they would accept is. 100? 1000? if the cost is less than a regular controller its ok by me :D

For now I'll Keep with my N505 because it has a scart RGB video output and for me it's a must. But, I will try to search for more N505 (here people think it is a regular DVD and if you are lucky to find one it is very cheap). If I find one, you'll be the first to know;)

Nice score on the 505. I still have my Samsung DVD-N501. I always wanted to look into a 504 or 505, because it has the faster Aries 3 processor (108MHz). I have the Aries 2, running at 54MHz. I always wanted to see if it improved the VLM, or if my homebrew software would run faster.

Hi everybody!

I just checked logitech's wingman controller and ... it was totally different internally, I can share pictures here, but the pcb is very different, so if you want to build a new controller, you can take any one, because you are going to start from scratch.

Another problem was the lens, my N505 was not working at all. so I took the lens for the Samsung M-105 model and ..... It works perfectly with the original disc (I bought ballistics, the only title that is not very expensive and that can be played with the normal remote control). Jeff Minter's Visualizer works well with the original CD. Buuuuut no CDR is played.

I confirm that the lens for the nuon uses a 2LD but the M-101 to M-105 models use the 1LD lens which does not work with CDR .... so there is no homebrew at all. So I bought ANOTHER Samsung DVD M-205 to replace the lens and I hope with this one I can read the CDR

Summary: If you are looking for a replacement lens for a Samsung Nuon, look for M-20X (201,202,203,204,205) models, which are cheap enough and read CDR;)

Do a google search on the NUON polyface chip and see what is out there. They will not even talk to you unless you want some quantity. As far as I know there are no single chips solutions available unless you want to rape an existing controller.

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
