Modify FDF files

Hi,

I wondered, if one can modify FDF files located in the UI\Framedef in MPQ. Several threads I found claimes that it is possible, but I've had no luck so far. I tried to modify units panel, but nothing ever showed in game. I didn't import the files into the map, but replaced it in the MPQ.

What I try to accomplish is to modify this panel, so the heroes can have both attacks seen. As you know, the second attack type is hidden by hero attributes. Now I don't need those attributes, so they can be completely removed. So there are two ways. First is to remove attributes, so I can have both attack types. The second is to make regular units to level up with triggers. Second method maybe doesn't involve editing FDF.

Abilities aren't problem. Unit must have display of their level. Experience bar also isn't necessary.

Changing a unit's race to Creep will display its level, but this can't be changed through triggers. You could, however, add Chaos abilities to change the unit to another unit-type of a higher level.

Hmm, that isn't the best solution, as I will go to high levels. What about the FDF files? Anybody has some experience with them?
