Need a bit of help

Does anyone know the trigger or exact method used to create new civilians for every "X" kills as seen in "Nintendo Mini Matrix?" I'm working on a new Matrix map where i want every eight kills would earn you a civilian at "Location X." I do know that Evolv2(Nintendo Mini Matrix original author) used some vespene gas as a tracker, but it's beyond me. Am I missing something simple? I'd appreciate any advice... thanks in advance.

There are several ways you can do that.

1 of them, the one you said, is using resources, others are using switches.

CONDITION
- Current player kills at least 8 any unit
ACTION
- Set kills for Current player to 0
- Give 1 Vespene Gas
- Preserve Trigger

CONDITION
- Current player has at least 1 Vespene Gas
ACTION
- Deduct 1 Vespene Gas for Current player
- Create 1 Civilian at 'Location X'
- Preserve Trigger

The other way, using switches:

CONDITION
- Current player kills at least 8 any unit
ACTION
- Set kills for Current player to 0
- Set switch 'Civilian'
- Preserve Trigger

CONDITION
- Switch 'Civilian' is set
ACTION
- Clear switch 'Civilian'
- Create 1 Civilian at 'Location X'
- Preserve Trigger

I think theres more ways, but can't think of any.

Thanks! I'm going to implement that right away, but that makes me think of two more issues before I can be sure of anything-
1. I see no "Set Kills" action- are you referring to "Set Score"? If so, this will prevent me from effectively making a leaderboard for most kills, correct?
2. I can see one obvious way to combine each pair of those triggers into one trigger. What is the difference between using one and two triggers to complete this effect?

If you use only 1 trigger, it has the tendency to mess up like it will keep adding resources, civilians, etc.

They have to be spread to 2 so it will not mess up.

I'm sorry, but I'm still confused- will this prevent me from using a leaderboard for kills? Nintendo Mini Matrix, among many other maps, I'm sure, still have a leaderboard.

Ok... now it just makes civilians constantly. Heres what my trigger reads:

PLAYERS:
'|Good Guys'
CONDITIONS:
-Current Player Kills score is at least 8.
-Current Player accumulates at most 0 gas.
ACTIONS:
-Modify score for Current Player: Subtract 8 Kills.
-Modify Resources for Current Player: Add 1 Gas.

Thats the first one. Here's the second one:

PLAYERS:
Player 1
CONDITIONS:
-Player 1 accumulates exactly 1 Gas.
ACTIONS:
-Modify Resources for Player 1: Subtract 1 Gas.
-Create 1 '|$ Unit Voucher $' at 'P1 - Civ Arrival' for Player 1.
Apply (properties)
-Preserve Trigger.

And that's it. What happens is, once the leaderboard shows a player with 8 kills, it continuously makes civs ( '|$ Unit Voucher $' ) I'm sorry for my continued stupidity over this tiny little problem. Further and hopefully culminating advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You may need to change the first trigger a bit. It seems the Set score kills is points, not unit kills. So, try making it into kill POINTS to get Gas, check the other threads to see how.
 
Theres a BUG your kills arent exactly "KILLS" they are score and this will open your eyes a little a normal marine gives you 100 of score so the game will substract 8 and 8 from 100 it will create 12
Civilians and its a rine . a Larvae gives you 10 of score.

You could change that score to kills:

CONDITIONS:
-Current Player Kills At least 8 any unit.
-Current Player accumulates at most 0 gas.
ACTIONS:
-Modify score for Current Player: Subtract 8 Kills.
-Modify Resources for Current Player: Add 1 Gas

that will be kills, any unit gives you 1 kill but diferent score
