Need feedback on an idea

Hey so I have a multiplayer map idea that I want some feedback on.

In the rural farmland of the planet Agria, a fleet of Protoss invaders has been abducting the locals. Compete with your Protoss brethren to abduct as many civilians and lay waste to as many of the colonists defenders as possible.

Essentially, each player controls a modified mothership with unique abilities, the main ability being abduct. You must abduct critters and colonists for points. The colonial militia will try to stop you, and while they can't be abducted, they can be destroyed for bonus points. Players will be able to collect power ups to thwart their competitors ships, although you will not be able to attack another player's ship directly.

Power ups may include, but are not limited to:
-Vortex
-Plasma torpedoes (single target, multiple missile attack)
-Void Prism
-Planet cracker (useful against militia)

Some of the base abilities I have so far are, but not limited to:
-Abduct: abducts a colonist or critter for points
-Blink: short ranged teleportation
-Guardian shield: reduce ranged damage for a limited time


What are your thoughts on this idea? Good, bad, needs refinement? What other gameplay suggestions do you have? What other abilities should there be? Another other thoughts?

Sounds like an interesting idea. How do you plan on setting the victory conditions? Will it be most points / people abducted within a set duration or first to reach a particluar amount of points? Will it offer team play? I would also recommend that the militia sould get stronger over time, and possibly resettle abandoned encampments.

I planned on having the players vote on either a timed match or to play until a point limit is reached. You get the most points for abduction, and abducting a critter is less points than abducting a colonist. I also planned on having the militia become stronger as the game progresses, starting with marines and eventually getting vikings, battlecruisers and nukes. Of course all unit stats will be modified to be appropriate. I hadn't considered team play, but that could be interesting.

Any other thoughts?

That map will kick ass. I think you should start making it and the ideas will come along
the way.

I believe difficulty levels should be included for more experienced players like - the higher the difficulty
the less points should be awarded for abduction or kill, and/or the mothership should have less HP.
In a single word - handicap.

Another idea: abducting people may award you with research points. I mean ..... why abducting people
if not conducting experiments to understand them better. The research points will give you the opportunity
to research more effective weapons against the defenders.

I like the idea of the research points, good idea. Perhaps I'll award points for kills and research for abductions.

    Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

    Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

    I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart

    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
