Opening a Gate?

Im making a Medeival-Builder style map, and there are buildable gates, but Im having a little bit of trouble getting them to open and close.

(First of all, I will remind eveyone that the gates are STRUCTURES, not destructables.)

Anyway, I made an ability called open, based off of crow form. It replaces the gate with another gate with no pathing map (so you can go through it.)

Anyway, I made a very simple trigger to try and trigger it to open:

Gates Open
Events
Unit - A unit Begins casting an ability
Conditions
(Ability being cast) Equal to Open
Actions
Animation - Play (Casting unit)'s Death Alternate animation

But it just flashes the animation, then goes back to appearing closed. If I try and cast the spell again, the game crashes. I can't really understand what the problem is.
I also tried adjusting the actions so it is replaced with a new gate using the life of the old gate and playing the animation, but the same thing happens.

If you could clear this up and/or give me a better method of making it work, then +rep for you. :D

Try basing it off something else then in the trigger replace it with an opened gate and then reselecting it for the owner.

I think people have talked about this before, try searching...

You know how you can make a demon hunter turn into his other form by changing his required animation names? Well, try doing that on the gate and see if it stays open. If you dont get waht I mean, check the demonhunter\demonhunter in demon form.

If it does work, make it just like the demonhunters ult. If it doesn't... Idk, try searching.

And the alternate form does have the alternate animations, but they arent doing anything.

And sevion, theres no open gate model. Ill try basing it off something else though, that might at least fix the crashing.

If it flashs the animation could you set its animation speed to 0 at the right time so It would stay that way?

Woah there horsie! No one here ever said you're stupid. Calm down. We're just trying to help. I don't have WC anymore, for a while till my laptop gets repaired, so I can't help that much. But you can create an opened gate model can you not? Also, just create another building with the gate model with no pathing then make it play it's death animation but pause it when it's opened. get what I mean? Aggressiveness never solved anything >_>

Sorry sevion, I didnt say you called me stupid, its just that almost every time I ask a question Im swarmed with like 10 people telling me to use the search function, and I already did, quite thoroughly.

You could replace it with an open gate, like make two types, open and closed and when you cast it you replace it.

Ok... there is no open gate model. There isn't even a vertical gate model. I need to know how to use the animation 'death alternate' on a gate so that it stays open. And then I need to know how to do it so it closes again. I could replace it, but I would still need to be able to open the new structure.

EDIT:

WOOT I got it to work. I needed to loop the animation, simple as that, sorry I was a bit of a jerk, I know you were trying to help.

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart

    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
