Priority

I know that Priority refers to the preference of the computer units when choosing between units to attack, where higher priority value means it is more likely to attack that unit.

But I have a problem, that when a unit is attacking a unit, say priority "1". Then a unit with priority "10" walks by. How do i make the attacking unit attack the unit with "10" automatically? Is it something that requires triggers? if so, can someone describe how it should work?

Im pretty sure there are no triggers that check for priority. So no. You would have to do something like giving each unit a specific buff or hidden spell, then check every X seconds if a unit with a higher level buff or spell walks past. But that is way to complicated for something like this. It would require a LOT of time.

but how does DotA make it work? If you've played DotA, you've have realised that the seige is always the last to be hit, and when creeps walked near it, the units that are attacking the seige will attack the creeps first.

I think that's something to do with the unit's Targeted As value - I think organic units are prioritised over structures/mechanical. Try swapping the Targeted As value for 2 units (1 organic, 1 mechanical) and see which unit is attacked first (and check who is attacked first when they have their normal Targeted As value)

Yeah i think it has something to do with how blizzard programmed the AI of warcraft. Kinda like seeing that a siege unit will be less of a threat to a smaller, faster unit than another small and fast unit would be. But thats just a theory. :p

can we change the range whereby the units will automatically look for someone with a higher priority? is it the aquistis-range?

is it not the other way around?
first priority = 1
second priority = 2

I think it is that the 1priority is the one that is high priority, and the others are lesser:) That sounds logical to me:D It's worth a try;)

what about priority "0"? i read somewhere it is the lowest. that's why things are so confused and different threads say different things.
