Blackveiled Milanesa Tacos
This home made Milanesa Tacos recipe uses less expensive meat than fajita and is just as good, plus it is easy to make!
Ingredients:
- Le Major Corn Tortillas
- 2-3lb Milanesa/Fajita Meat (or less if you're cooking for yourself) from a local Mexican butcher - Make sure the meat you get is relatively thinly sliced, maybe 1/4 in. thickness
- 1-2 onions
- 4-5 red peppers
- Corn oil
- Goya Adobo Powder (with pepper is my preference)
- Cast iron pan or skillet
- Saute sliced onions and red peppers together in a little corn oil
- Heat up corn oil in the pan on medium-high heat
- Add meat and sear on both sides
- If your pan dries out just add a little more corn oil so it doesn't stick
- Season the meat with Adobo powder
- Cook meat to desired temp, I usually do medium rare
- Fry corn tortillas gently in corn oil, not enough to make them harden but they should be solid and pliable
- Put together your tacos - add meat, onions/pepper
- Add whatever other toppings you prefer, crema/sour cream, hot sauce/taco sauce, etc
Note:
- Everything in there is relatively cheap, but the meat can be pricey depending what cut you get
- 2-3lbs of Fajita meat could run you $25-40
- Milanesa is cheaper than Fajita meat and still good for tacos
