Unit comes within range of Unit of Unit Type [Help. How do I do this?]

Hello everyone I've run into a snag recently. I'm trying to design a battle system for my teams project but I can't seem to be able to figure out the exact thing to do to make it work. I've wrote out an idea of how to do it but I can't seem to find everything to make it work correctly. Can anyone help me find what the actual triggers would be like? The idea is that the player comes within a range of a specific unit (which will just be locusted peasants using a grass model) that it will select a random variable interger between 1-4. 1 being the chance that the battle trigger will run and 2-4 being the chance that nothing will happen. I would really really appreciate anyone who helped me with this. And of course I would give anyone who helps rep.

Here are my written out ideas for the triggers to make this work:

Name - Battle Intiate
Events - A unit comes within range X of a unit of unit type
Conditions - None
Actions - Select a random interger of variable1

Name - Integer 1
Events - Variable Interger 1 is selected
Conditions - None
Actions - Set temporary point
-Set triggering unit to variable_player
-Move variable_player to center of region battle player
-create 1 variable_monster or a random interger 1-4 at center of region battle computer
-set last created unit as variable_current_monster

Name - Integer 2-4
Events - Variable Interger 2-4 is selected
Conditions - None
Actions - Do Nothing

Name - Win Battle
Events - variable_current_monster dies
Conditions- None
Actions - Move variable player to temporary point

Name - Lose Battle
Events- variable_player dies
Conditions - None
Actions- Revive variable_player at center of region hero revive
-remove temporary point

one of the thing i hope in the upcoming starcraft editor is to be able to this, but in w3 editor, you cant use that event, coz that event need to have specific units,

however, there is 1 way to do so, either you preplace your grass unit in the map or do the following after you use trigger to randomly spawn those grass unit,

pick all unit that matching (matching unit type = grass unit
add event - units enter x range of picked unit to ----> the trigger u use

or, if you use trigger to spawn those grass randomly

add event - unit enter x range of (last created unit)

PS: sorry i dont have world editor on hand now, but you should be able to find add event in trigger category..
PSs: your system sounds like final fantasy...

Well thanks for the idea. I'll give that a try. And yeah it kinda is I suppose.
