Hey all, I'm working on this project out of boredom and partial inspiration from a certain final fantasy game, and I'm just wondering if it seems the least bit interesting.
Basically, the concept is this:
Players compete in a One vs. One battle on an 8 by 8 board. The format is similiar to a chess board, if you will. You can choose from a multitude of races (Human, Orc, Elf, Undead, Horror, Beast) and compete using generic footsoldiers (Bears, Muntants, Swordsman, etc.) mixed in with a variety of different types of units, such as priest-type units that can heal units, revive players from the graveyard, or teleport them to different locations. There are also mage-type units that can stay in the back and cast spells on units in a range, or even some in any square they want on the board. The end-goal of the map is based on the game mode chosen in the start, oblideration (Where you destroy all of your enemy's units) or Assassination (Where you kill the enemy's leader). Conquer is also another conceptual option, where in which you will take spaces and evantually conquer the whole board.
You start out with two rows of units, mixed up a little bit, with upgrade being an option (Not sure on this feature yet, might make them have to get to the end of the other players side in traditional chess-style). Each unit can only move one space per turn, and a turn is exhausted when you move or attack. To keep it from being a blow-by-blow fest, I've made it so that you can temporarily render certain units invulnerable for a couple turns or extremely damage resistant with a spell or ability. This allows for strategy, and the diversity I want to create among the unit-types will augment it.
I just really don't know how interesting this map would seem to people, I just take delight in the making and coding of the map itself, I just wouldn't want it to go to waste. Any suggestions/ideas or general feedback would be great, thanks.
