WikiLeaks

If the government wants it kept secret tell them to do a better job at it atleast. once its in the hands of someone else and its gets releaced then toobad that doesn't give them rights to send the CIA after them with false and madeup information the government claims to have. If its so damn secritive then dont tell other people about it. Truthfully i think we deserve to know whats going on and the governemt doesn't have a right to hide shit from us. let alone make up information against someone else.

i know knowing the truth is important, but how far is going too far to show people that truth?

Well, this is just from a youtube comment, but I really wouldn't doubt it's truth.

Although there might be truth to his comment, I still find it as a danger. I haven't been to WikiLeaks myself, I'd rather not get associated with it, but I've head from people I work with that you can find blueprints for vehicles in use now. Even if the documents aren't current you can find a pattern in troop movements, also there might be names on said documents which could further endanger military members lives.

when you get to the point of directly and intentionally hurting/killing people

now, same question, some people here make the argument that hiding the truth is important, but how far is going too far to protect the truth? is the government going too far when politicians say that person X should be assassinated?

1. They butt raped the State Department for ruining ties with others (and also themselves, because they now look like jerks)
2. They followed their slogan of "we open governments" partially. They opened (for the third time) the USA government.
3. They broke the US Espionage Act and Julian Assange avoided rape charges + trial.

In short (if it can get shorter), Julian Assange should grow up.

Educate yourself.

The leaks related to the US are by far the largest both by document size and media attention. Wikileaks or Assange can hardly be blamed for that.

In case you missed it: Assange turned himself in to the Brittish police soon after Sweden sent out a correct arrest warrant.

As suggested by his lawyers.

The question of who's right and who's wrong is truly up to whether you believe all information should be open or not. There are faults on both sides; the gov'ts and Assange's. Do the research and you'll come to have a bit of distaste for both.

News portal has been retired. Main page of site goes to Headline News forum now
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am working on getting access to the old news portal under a different URL for those that would rather use that for news before we get a different news view.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Easily done
    +1
  • The Helper The Helper:
https://www.thehelper.net/pages/news/ is a link to the old news portal - i will integrate it into the interface somewhere when i figure it out
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Need to try something
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hopefully this won't cause problems.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hmm
  • Ghan Ghan:
I have converted the Headline News forum to an Article type forum. It will now show the top 20 threads with more detail of each thread.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    See how we like that.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do not see a way to go past the 1st page of posts on the forum though
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is OK though for the main page to open up on the forum in the view it was before. As long as the portal has its own URL so it can be viewed that way I do want to try it as a regular forum view for a while
  • Ghan Ghan:
Yeah I'm not sure what the deal is with the pagination.
  • Ghan Ghan:
It SHOULD be there so I think it might just be an artifact of having an older style.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I switched it to a "Standard" article forum. This will show the thread list like normal, but the threads themselves will have the first post set up above the rest of the "comments"
  • The Helper The Helper:
I don't really get that article forum but I think it is because I have never really seen it used on a multi post thread
  • Ghan Ghan:
RpNation makes more use of it right now as an example: https://www.rpnation.com/news/

    What do you think Tom?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
I will have to get used to this.
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
The latest news feed looks good
  • The Helper The Helper:
I would like to see it again like Ghan had it the first time with pagination though - without the pagination that view will not work but with pagination it just might...
