What is Reputation?

Yes, this is the Veteran User (I believe) text beneath name, but could someone please tell me what reputation is? I have seen it offered as prizes in competitions and as rewards for fixing things but I have no clue what it is. Could someone help.

First of all it's a thing that shouldn't be posted here

And it's pretty much what you call it. It's a reward you may give others for helping you. And when you reaching 100+ for instance you can have animated gifs I believe. Rep can be given through the wavemachine in the top right of a player's post.

Wavemachine??? That's a set of scales:

At 100 you also get a custom title, increased PM storage and increased attachment space.
