Congestion kills. That’s not hyperbole, it’s a fact. In dozens of cities across the world, heavy traffic, construction, and poorly maintained roads keep first responders from getting to patients in time. That’s where the Ambucycle comes in.

With a dual-sport motorcycle and a surprising amount of lifesaving equipment on board, an Ambucycle and its medic rider can reach the scene of an accident or the home of a patient in an average of 90 seconds. That’s lightspeed compared to the 20-30 minutes it could take a traditional ambulance to reach the same destination while dealing with traffic congestion and road closures.

The Ambucycle is the brainchild of Eli Beer, the founder and manager of United Hatzalah (“rescue” in Hebrew). At 15 he took his first EMT course and began volunteering with an ambulance service in Israel. But he quickly realized that every minute that passed between leaving the station to arriving at a patient’s door was a lifetime.

So at 17 he assembled a group of EMTs and a handful of emergency radio receivers to rush medical attention to those in need — sometimes on foot.

Today, 25 years later, Beer’s rogue band of first responders has evolved into United Hatzalah, a 2,000-volunteer army of medical technicians that can deploy on a moment’s notice. In just the last year the organization helped 207,000 patients, over 40,000 of which were treated for life-threatening emergencies.

Because not everywhere the ambulance needs 20 - 30 minutes.
If I would call the ambulance right now and pretend I am dying they would be here in less then 2 minutes.
(they park their vehicles across the street)

Don't count on It! Accname It depends if the traffic's bad etc..
An Ambucycle can start first aid before ambulances can get there.

The ambulance gets through traffic. When they start the siren every car is forced to move away. They have to make way or they get in jail big time.

But still a ambucycle can get there faster. So what does it matter really?

What can an ambulance cycle carry? Do they have actual equipment there? How many people is it? Just one? How are they supposed to get me to the hospital in case of an emergency?
Just having an ambulance at the spot doesnt mean that everything is going to be okay. That one guy can be quite useless in the majority of cases. Well, he might help in case of telling bystanders how to react and get out of the way, but he wont safe the life of a person by himself.

Simple as that.

The Ambucycles obviously can’t carry a person, LOL but they can stabilize a patient long enough for an ambulance to arrive, thanks to an on-board trauma kit, oxygen canister, defibrillator, and more. The medics each have a smartphone equipped with GPS, allowing volunteers to be notified of an emergency in their vicinity and respond within minutes. Each year, the bikes serve almost 500 calls, one-quarter of which are life-threatening. And they do it all for free.

Not in the US it doesn't.

And you don't go to jail for not moving out of the way of an emergency vehicle. You CAN, but do you really think that a cop is going to come arrest you for not getting out of their way when they have an emergency call to get to? No, they're going to honk, get pissed, and eventually you realize what's happening and pull over, or otherwise turn off their route, and then start going fast again.

You know what's even faster than a motorcycle? A helicopter. AND it can carry MULTIPLE people, along with a far better set of medical equipment and supplies, and it doesn't need to give a single fuck about traffic. So why bother spending money on stupid shit that isn't necessary and not going to help in most regions, when we can spend money on making helicopters cheap enough for regular and practical use in medical emergencies?

Oh they are definitely going to get you in jail over here if you dont move. They are pretty aggressive about that, everybody moves, literally everybody.
When they hear a siren the road will instantly clear up.

A helicopter
Have you ever been on a motorcycle? Hmm
Btw: Air ambulance, they can't safely land everywhere, Only land on roads, paved areas, or in parks or fields etc.. And helicopter to carry a patient isn't cheap. If you think so!

They dont have to land, they can hover over an area and use a lift to get the patients up.

Well...yeah...but a normal rule is just an open area that is 100x100 feet, so they can safely land in a lot of areas really, and an air evac necessary unless the patient needs to be seen immediately...so a medical motorcycle is alright for people who need help fast, but they still need a normal ambulance to take them to the hospital.

Sure And Btw: They may not always need get to hospital.

Yeah, but all patients who request an ambulance go to the hospital just incase, since the hospital is liable once they become their patient. If there's no obvious injury or illness they will still be tested to be checked for anything internally. The only reason they wouldn't go to the hospital after the ambulance shows up is if they say they do not want to go, and that's only if they appear to be fully alert and conscious, if they aren't, then they go to the hospital regardless if they want to or not.

Not Always! Anyway, it's an awesome idea!.

You wouldnt call the ambulance for nonsense. If its not critical then you just go to the doctor or the hospital yourself. Who would dare to waste the time of the ambulance?

And since almost all of my programming experience is with defunct shit now, I figure my best place is helping preserve legacy stuff. Which I don't know how to do necessarily, but I need some kind of a hobby and figuring out how older things worked is the only shit that really interests me. Well soldering and restoration is fun too, but no one is bringing me new stuff to fix and restore, so it's mostly old shit, and I LOVE OG Xbox so much. I want to make sure it can function as long as possible, until someone can effectively emulate it at least. I have like 15 I was going to fix over the winter and didn't get to.

I also have a couple OG gameboys, but idk if I can do that without like, manufacturing new parts that no one makes anymore and I can't do that right now

Currently in the middle of getting the probate process going. We're doing the informal probate process.

A probate is usually done with a will, yes? If so I am sorry for your loss

We have some elderly guests that regularly come hang out at the bar at the end of the night, and every once in a while we don't see someone for a few weeks and then someone shows up with their obituary.
  • Varine Varine:
We usually let them do their memorials there in the morning if they want to and I'll make them some snacks and drinks. There was one guy named Tom that came in like every night and would sit by himself and get a bunch of soup and a glass of wine. idk why but he LOVED our fucking soup, like he would order a fucking quart of it at a time and would always get so sad when we stop doing it for the summer.

But he also loved our calamari, which is another thing I hate but it sells super well so I can't change it. There was one day he came in and was asking me how to make it, because he tried to at home once in the off season when we stop running it and he really wanted it lol
  • Varine Varine:
I think he's one of the only people I've made recipes for for free because he really wanted a broccoli cheddar, and it was like dude I don't have a recipe, it's just whatever I have, but here, this is how you do it
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think he ever figured out how to do the calamari in a pan though, like idk how to do that either. He was afraid of the at home deep fryers though and it's like yeah, that's fair, I am too
  • Varine Varine:
He was just such a sweet old man, we had two servers pregnant and they held a baby shower together, he was soooooo fucking excited to get to see a baby. Unfortunately he died a month or so before they were born
  • The Helper The Helper:
So I decided to Google some people that I had not seen or heard from in a while and sure enough one of my old best friends, we had a falling out years ago but whatever, find out he died of Pancreatic Cancer in January. I have also lost a few of my closer acquaintances from growing up the last year. Getting old - people die - I kinda thought it was going to be this way a few years ago....

    Forum running super slow again
  • Ghan Ghan:
Not really clear from the stats as to what is causing the slowness.
  • Ghan Ghan:
We get a lot of guest traffic so it may just be the load is getting too high and not from any particular source.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Looks like the server is maxed out on CPU.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Oh it looks like a lot of the traffic is Silkroad Forums. That domain isn't protected by Cloudflare.
  • Ghan Ghan:
But the old Silkroad site is still on its own server. I just had a test site set up on this server for it.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I just disabled that test site. Let's see if that helps the load.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Looks much better already.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I had actually forgot about the Silkroad site. I had asked
  • The Helper The Helper:
SD Ryoko about it and he said the couple of people left on there really like it, that was a few years ago, maybe I should check back
  • jonas jonas:
I guess when you're getting old, and the last day of soup season draws near, you start wondering
  • jonas jonas:
will I make it to the start of the next season? or was this the last time I'll ever have my favorite dish?

I am doing my first Vibe Coding project. In installed the environment and tools according to instructions but it is all chat doing this for me at my direction. It is fun really and holy shit I might finish in 2 hours what it would have taken a day to in my Access and this would be an electron app complete new
