Ive got two questions for you, perhaps you can help me:

1. I made two different spells based on the ability defend from the footman. the spells use the same spell-id/order-id, but ar used by different heros. if the one hero uses his spell, it works perfectly. if the other hero uses the other spell, it has the same effect as the spell from the first hero...I checked all values etc a few times...

2. I wanted to change the grafic button of the buildmenu of the nightelves (you know, this tree-button). I just changed the path of "CommandBasicStructNightElf" in game interface, but that wouldnt work...someone any ideas what else has to be changed/how to do it?

isnt NE's build ability a spell? just change the icon only the icon. i think that should work

Yeah its a spell, but I never found it in the object editor...
You also cant create a new spell based on "build", its not contained in the list.

What do you mean by new spell based on build? build is something you get if the unit can build structures, you also get Rally if the unit can train other units.

What I meant is: You can give a unit several "build" spells ("build (human)" etc...), so you can change the way the unit will build (building or summoning etc.). By creating a new spell in object editor, you will have to choose a base spell for your new spell, as you know, but doing so, you cannot choose the several "build" spells, because they are not listed...

But otherwise, thats not the main problem... I just wanted to change the grafic button for nightelf-build

Na, I dont want several build menus...I just want the change the grafic button...

but youre right, it could use a dummy spell or something like that, but Im not sure, if its worth all the work, for nightelf-building works so perfect for me, the grafic doesnt matter that much...

So you want some buildings to build as a night elf would and some to build another way?

Don't you just change the icon of the building you want ot build and it will change in he build menu?

Well Ill give you my idea:
In my map, there is a unit called dragon ancestor... the dragon ancestor has the ability to build several kind of nests "onto" a nestspot, which is actually a modified goldmine with other modell etc.
while building a nest, the dragon ancestor remains in the nest and after finishing the build process it will still be inside the nest, which means it will removed from game... technical the dragon ancestor has the "build (nightelf)" ability, the nest is classified as an ancient... it all works perfect by now.
so you have the buildbutton, that will open the buildmenu when clicked. and for nightelf race the buildbutton is this old tree. but that doesnt fit very well for a dragon ancestor, right? so I wanted to change it, for example to an egg..
but im still wondering, how to do this, for as i wrote, changing the symbol in game interface had not at all made any difference...

My only idea would have been to change the icon, other than that i would probably have no clue...

But how do you want to do this?
"build (...)" is not such a regular spell, that you can find in object editor...
or do you mean I should just import another button and "overwrite" the buildbutton with custom path?

import a custom icon and use

yeah, I think thats the same as I changed, but I gave you rawdata-name ;)

Besides that,
any ideas for the other problem, which is far more concerning for me?

It's difficult to diagnose based on the info you gave. (Well, I can't spot the problem, anyway.) But if all else fails, you could maybe base one of the spells off of "Magic Defense" instead. It has the same data fields and a different orderstring, so it should be fine.

Magic Defense is used on a third unit. so if the problem with using the same order-ids on different units really exists, that would probably dont work either... but im gonna check it as soon as I got time...
