    Here's the strange part. I tried placing the gargoyle unit on my map in the editor, and he starts off in stone form. So I don't think it's the Storm Crow ability that's doing it. Can you not have a hero gargoyle or something?

    You could add a hunger and rest aspect where you need to eat and sleep or you start losing health over time. As well, try making different species have advantages on different types of terrain. For example, you could give damage modifiers, lowering their damage if its not their natural habitat.
