A New Role Play Map

Hello,

I am thinking of creating a new RP map LRP (Levdragon's Role Play) it will be a map of Azeroth/Outlands for people who like Warcraft RP. I am posting this as a type of fourm thing for you to post your thoughts or ideas of what you think a RP should have. I do not think other RP makers have done this but I want to appease the crowds. If you know any of the SotDRP commands that would be helpful please tell, (Even the basic ones) because I do not want to take their commands use WEU without permission.

I think you should just go to a major game review site (eg. gamespot), search for the top-rated commercial rpg's and then find user reviews and comments on what they do and don't like about these games. Then try see if you can adapt the good points to a warcraft 3 rpg.

I don't think you will get too many replies here with a question like that, because anyone considering making an rpg should already know the basic guidelines for what people want. It's all about increasing a heroes power and arsenal of equipment within a well themed storyline. You would do yourself better to come up with a theme and story for your rpg, design the basic character class layouts and then ask for feedback on what kind of abilities and systems would work well in conjunction with your idea.

You already have a starting point with your azeroth and outlands locations, so expand on it. Make it more diverse then the regular wow classing and try add some of your own personal character to the overall flow of the game.

I think you misundestood, I ment RP, not RPG, an RP is a Role Playing map like SotDRP where you just RP for fun with friends. Thankyou for those ideas however they would be great if I was making a RPg. :thup:

I'm sorry I didn't know such things existed... I thought when people role played they just played regular RPG's and got more into character or something.

There were some nice models in DoBRP Anathema, you may want to look into asking the author to use those, unless he also got them from another source.

I can get the custom files out of Anathema if you get permission.


As far as some ideas...

You stated that it would be Outlands/Azeroth. Just wondering if they would be separate maps? If they are, for Azeroth you may want to try to make something similar to Cotm Azeroth, but better looking terrain. I really enjoyed that terrain because you can build in any/all of the environments in only one map, so it is not limited to a single player's choice.

I like the outland terrain idea, but I haven't seen anything like it, so I don't have any ideas yet.

I like duderock101's idea of professions or jobs, but I don't believe it is immediately necessary in the first version. Although a good idea would be to be able to select a class after they choose a model.

Although it may make the map huge, is there a way you can set it to save/load ONE of your heroes so you don't have to remake them each time? This saves a good amount of time in RPs and removes some of the repetitiveness. This code would only have to be maybe 15 characters, and not player specific. You don't need heavy encryption if you did this. There is a save/load system here. Just remove the code you wouldn't need in this?

These are just a few ideas, that if pulled off would make your RP stand out from others greatly.
