Arrow target spell

I want to do a carrion swarm like spell that don't goes up cliffs, and dies when hits the first target, toexplain better, it's like the dagger ability of Mercurial in dota...
it is casted on the ground(like carrionswarm) and than goes in a line , if it finds a enemy,it will deal X damage, and will hit a enemy ONLY ONCE, as the enemy takes damage, the arrow is distroyed and the enemy gains a buff that reduces his movement
My intention is in my map to create a mountain that you have a archer to stop the waves of monsters, but you wont simply attack them,you must use the "CarrionSwarm"-like ability in order to try to hit the enemyes...

Well, obviously you're going to have to use a dummy here.
Making it not able to climb up hills is quite easy, just don't set the movement type to Fly, set it to Walk.
There are numerous ways of detecting if a unit is in range:
~Giving your dummy an aura or Permanant Immolation, detecting if a unit in Playable Map Area has the buff, then damaging the unit, removing the buff, killing the dummy.
~Use an Integer Condition to check if there are units around. (Most commonly used)
~A bit impractical, but to kill two birds with one stone, you create periodic dummies casting Thunder Clap, that takes care of damage and slowing, detect if a unit has your custom Thunder Clap buff, then destroy dummies and remove the buff so it doesn't fire off again.

It would be a bit of a long trigger, so I can't post it here, however, I hope I gave you some important information.

The particle system that uberplayer mentioned is the best way to go; however, grim001 is making a very full-featured physics system, which could let you blast the enemies back which then bounce against the wall, taking damage, etc. Of course, that's probably overkill for what you're trying to do, and it's not even out yet :p.

It will overkill him with new things (structs) if he didn't map for some months/years.
