Attack Appearance Changes

I am quite new to the World Editor and I was wondering if you could change the look of the units attacks.
Ex: I would have a footman that makes his attack cycle but the attack comes out like lightning and hits the enemy from ranged. IF the enemy gets to close, then the footman goes in to melee mode.

If this is possible, then tell me pointers,triggers, helps,tips, and how-to-do answers!:thup::thup::thup:

Maybe like this:
Change these:

Attacks Enabled : Both
Attack 1:
Range : ur range here
Attack 2:
Range : 100

And give the unit the ability "Lightning Attack"

Scroll down to Combat - Attack 1 range (or smth) then make the 100 into something greater, i.e. 450, then you could add the lightning attack ability like posted above, or just change the attack 1 projectile art to a different one, here you could also change the attack projectile art to various other ones.

Assuming you mean to dynamically switch between melee and ranged, do what the second post said, but if it doesn't switch by itself, I have a trigger idea. You could check periodically if there is a unit next to the footman and disable/enable the corresponding attack, or you could check when a unit moves into or out of range and disable/enable (not sure if you can do it this way).

I'm not too sure what Lightning Attack is though...

you would also need to create a minimum range for the ranged attack that is bigger then the melee range or it wont switch attacks. I'm pretty sure you can do that

As far as I can tell, that's seamless...not to mention triggerless...:banghead:
