Before I state my problem:
I am running Windows Vista, my router model is Netgear DG834GT, I have no viruses or spyware or anything, my Netgear Wireless Adaptor is a WG111T (Worked fine on my other computer), and this problem has happened since I got this computer.
And just some minor information that may not be important:
When I first got the computer, I tried installing another adaptor, which just didn't work. It was a different model of Netgear adaptor. I installed the disc 3 times and uninstalled it each time, and eventually got rid of it and installed my current adaptor. With Netgear adaptors comes a program named Netgear [Model code] Smart Wizard. On my old computer, this would open and I could change settings, but on this computer it does not open at all, it just flashes up for a second and then closes. I am also pretty far away from the router in my house, but this didn't happen on my old computer.
And now the problem:
I am constantly getting disconnected from the internet. It usually happens when I open too many websites at once, or sometimes just when I choose to load a video. I have done virus scans and spyware scans, and that doesn't seem to be the problem, plus I have had this problem since I got the computer.
When the problem happens, a little warning sign goes over the network connection icon, usually meaning limited connectivity. If I unplug and plug in the adaptor fast enough, the internet connects and works fine, but if I don't do it fast enough, I need to reboot to fix the internet. But when I reboot after it disconnects, the computer doesn't shut down, I need to manually shut it down by holding the button down. This is an extremely annoying problem, and I have tried several things to fix it, such as turning off power saving for the device, which seemed to fix it for two days, but now it's happening again.
MUCH MUCH MUCH love to anyone who can help, this is annoying as hell.
