An 86-year-old El Reno woman is suing the city's police department over a December incident in which officers shot her with a Taser while she was in bed, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court.

Lona M. Varner, 86, and her grandson, Lonnie D. Tinsley, filed the suit on Monday. It alleges that the El Reno Police Department "cruelly injured (her) with a Taser and imprisoned (her) for several days without probable cause in a hospital."

However, police told the El Reno Tribune in January that the woman had threatened to kill herself and threatened officers with a knife. The story says the incident happened on Dec. 22 at the Elizabeth Place Apartments, located at 1955 S. Shephard Avenue.

According to the lawsuit: Varner's grandson had called 911 to request emergency medical technicians to stop by to help her with medication. He had stopped by to check on her in advance of an approaching winter storm, the lawsuit says.

The lawsuit alleges that instead of EMTs, 10 police officers came to the apartment and "pushed their way through the door." It also alleges that from her hospital-style bed and connected to an oxygen machine, she told them to leave.

At that point, the officer instructed another policeman to "Taser her!" according to the court brief. Police contended in their official report that Varner had taken a "more aggressive posture in her bed."

What the hell... The police could not handle a 86 year old granny. hehehe
Well, he must have been 100 years old, because he could not.

Shes having trouble with her medication... isnt that more like "Son I'm not taking my sanity pills anymore..."

The women cant move, her son asks the cops to come check on her, of course they are gonna walk through the front door uninvited. And I dont care what you say, no cop pulls the dramatic "Taser her" line, they probably warned her.

Regardless I agree, I would never have used a taser on a women that old.

That is what I am saying. Between 10 cops they should have been able to come up with a better solution. Just Saying!

You taser her, instant control.

Let's say you try to talk to an old lady that's temporarily (debatable) insane.
Chances are, it's not going to go anywhere.

Okay, so you try to threaten her.
Yea, threaten an old lady that wants to die.

Mm..
Restrain her with 10+ cops?
With her knife, she's gonna' scar someone and when they pin her down, she's going to struggle and get more injuries.
And she'll sue for the same thing, I guess, assault.

I say, sending 100,000V - 600,000V of electricity is better <.<
That is, if there was no other alternative.

An excellent Idea  You forgot something. Electric shock can kill someone

Good point, but I got something better. When she dies, you can Taser her again to get her goin once more, just like those pads they use at hospitals. Clear! Zap!

Hmm, how do I change my signature?

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
