Hey there,

Ive not been a active member here for long, Ive only created one map so far and got help for that and then been randomly lurking the forums from time to time.

Ive now decited that my creative side wants to take over once again and I want to make a neat little map, but before that I have few very simple questions that I simply cant seem to find the answere to :)

1. What is AoS, I relise its some type of hero map type but not 100% sure on it. (Found the answere already after some forum searching, sorry )

2. is it common on maps that there is one guy handling the landscaping and one guy handling the gameplay / triggers / heroes

3. Would there be any intrest in a Podcast dedicated to WarCraft 3 map making ? (I have had one in mind for quite some time but dont know if it would acctually be any success :)

Thats it for now, I know it may seem rather random but its what I figgured to ask so far since it all touches abit on my idea of this new map.

Thank you all in advance :)

Podcast is essentially online radio, of sorts.

you can find alot of it on Itunes, and on websites all over the internet.

its basicly verbal blog of sorts :p

He's asking in question 2 if there is normally two people doing different stuff working on the map. For the second he's asking if there is a PodCast for World Editor related stuff (PodCast is for the iPod)

Well its not at all only for Ipods, there is quite alot of podcasts you can listen to online, and download in mp3 form to listen to on any mp3 player, or just simply in your mp3 player

etc etc

Let's get back to wc3...

For Question two: Yes there are loads of maps with co-makers, some people say it's best to have multiple people in different specialties to make the map better.

For Question three: I don't know the answer to this one, yet I can say that all you can do is search around for them.

For question three, I think if you're good at making music, then I guess there will not be problems. :)

Also, you can just add new sounds in your Sound Editor, then have a trigger that make everyone to hear it.

Sure, I supose people here dont completly grasp the idea of it, I supose the best way to find out if people would be into it is to try it out.

very good idea on the editor sound clips :)

Thank you for the answeres :)

I think I will search for some people to help me with my map since Im horrible at the map making it self, but I have plenty of gameplay ideas :)

I don't think podcasts are just music (never actually listened to them, but they wouldn't be called podcasts if they were just music)

As for #1, there's a thread in the Warcraft Talk forum about what an AoS is

As for #2, ye. IMO, there are few people who can handle all aspects of creating a map (some are good at triggers and/or JASS, but terrible with terraining (e.g. me), and others are good at terraining, but bad with triggers, and the many other combinations :p)

As for #3, depends on what you plan on putting into it :)

I never did any sound triggerings before, but I know how to make it be played.

Do you need a trigger to help you or you already learned?

I'm not into any sounds, so I'm not sure about that.

Your right, podcasts are mostly discussion and topics with perhaps music brakes in between or music bits to brake up the topics.

a musical show would not really be a podcast, but having some custom sounds or "drop ins" isnt uncommon in podcasts either :)

Im sure I will need help with some triggers once I start making the map, but so far Ive only started on the concept idea of it alone, and I know most of the very basics and into some advanced, Ive already created a "semi-suggesfull" map :p

I say that as I saw it hosted by someone else then my self on battlenet for play twice :p which in my eyes for a first time map was incredible.

although the map was rather crap it was a great learning expirience and I feel I have enough knowledge now to atleast dip my feet a bit into deeper waters :)

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
  • Ghan Ghan:
