Is there a way to detect projectile launch?

I was wondering if there was a way to detect the launching of a projectile. Not damage detection, cause this projectile may miss. And I dont think it's 'a unit is attacked' because that happens right away regardless of whether or not something comes out of the unit.

Any ideas?

Not that I know of. What do you want it for? Maybe there is another way.

I was planning on using it for something like tracking ammo. Like, if a shot is fired, then the ammo decreases by one. It doesn't matter whether or not this shot hits, the ammo is still reduced.

There are several ways. You can use a mana draining attack like Searing Arrows and detect the mana loss. You can also make the attack instant, and just trigger the projectile. You can also use an auto-cast spell like Slow or Parasite and detect the cast.
