[NEED]Assembling a Mapping Team !

Hey guys. I'm interested in making a small team of 2 or more people. I'm pretty advanced in the World Editor and I've been interested and programming in C++ for the past 4 years now, so when I came to learn JASS it was pretty simple.

Basically I just want a couple people that I can work with. You don't have to be 24/7 dedicated but if you could put some work into a map that we're making every day or so that would be nice.

If you had a microphone I would appreciate it. I don't mind typing to communicate but microphones make life so much easier.

If you're interested then post in the thread or send me a PM.

I would also like to have this team put together somewhat quickly. I'm working on a map right now and it isn't going to be something I can finish overnight (plus I need some cool ideas :) )

What kind of map is it? Are you only interested in JASS triggering? Or is GUI fine?

I know both. I only started on JASS today but I know it like the back of my hand now (The layout is identical to C++)

EDIT: Right now it would be working on Arkon Isles (a.k.a. War of the Isles). Basically, there are tons of islands and when the map starts you get an island picked for you. Then you choose your race (Custom races with all custom units and such). You take over other islands to enlarge your base. You can only harvest lumber, but some structures require gold to be built (advanced structures). You retrieve gold from killing other units.

There's a lot of parts to the map so I can't explain each one, but you get the gist.

I also started an ORPG a couple weeks ago but never worked on it anymore. It only has the first "section" done in it so there's a lot of work to be done in it.

Hmmm, well could be able to help out with GUI triggering and heroes if you have any.

As requested by your E-mail, I found your post! I would be interested in joining your team. I am able to do most GUI functions, some JASS, great terrain, and ability customization. I have a Mic and can use Teamspeak, Ventrilo, Skype, etc. Currently in College for Computer Sciences with a concentration on Video Game Design, so I may be of some use. =)

The terrain on Arkon Isles is finished but there are plenty of maps that could be terrained (i started an ORPG that needs a fairly big group of people to work on, it's going to be big :) )

Arkon isles is a LITTLE bit like Island Defense is (You have a builder randomed for you and only that builder can construct things. You have harvesters etc.)

Basically, you get assigned a random island (20 possible spawn zones, 12 people, 100% randomized). You build your base (all custom units, this is going to take a while to make!). Buildings and units take lumber to build, but some "special" buildings and units require gold which can only be attained by killing enemy player units and structures (1 gold / unit, 2 / gold for hard units (maybe) and 3 - 5 gold for structures)

Each island is pretty small, and you can build air transport units. Basically, you can't really settle down in one spot. Not only if you are attacked you lose all your buildings and ultimately become defeated, you don't have any room in your base to build. You have to build your necessary structures for upgrades and more advanced buildings which take up plenty of space. That leaves you very limited room to build attack towers, etc.

    Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

    I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart

    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
