Making an effective devour spell.

Just a casual question.

Im making a spider (hero) with a consuming spell, and i wanted to get the opinion of some warcraft users..

What do you think is the best way to have a good devour spell?

My personal opinion does not agree with dota's one (gives extra gold), for a few reasons.

1. Can only work on creeps.
2. I dont like the +gold idea.
3. My spell is to work on heroes as well.

So T.H, whats your opinion on making a good consuming spell?

Armour reduction depending on how long they are devoured?

Hmm thats an interesting idea!

So what your saying is something like this.

Spell lasts for random time between 2 numbers, lowers armor for each second inside.

level 1 - reduces armor by 1 for each second inside.Between 3 - 5 seconds.
level 2 - reduces armor by 2 for each second inside. Between 3 - 6 seconds.
level 3 - reduces armor by 3 for each second inside. Up to 3 - 7 seconds.

Or did you have something different in mind?

Or you can use devour to gain life regeneration depend on the MAX HP of the unit that consumed. The unit will die after the period. (Devouring Period). After that no more HP regeneration.

Oh thats different..

Very nice as well.

So that would probaly require triggering. Ill give it a go.

And Devour is not much suit to affect hero.

Ok The trigger not difficult, try to figure out on a paper 1st, then start to design the skill.

You can use the following skill :
1. Channel (as dummy ability)
2. Item life regeneration (multi leveling)
3. Ability Marker (Ability that is no function, just for trigger registering purpose)

Have like an acid build up that vomits out with them.
So I mean like. You cannot move while you have them devoured. While you have them devoured, they slowly push out, damaging you. If you cancel and spit them out (by moving) acid spews out with them, which dealings say, 25 damage per second and slows by 50% in an AOE which is dependent on how long they are devoured.

i.e;
You devour a Hero. 10 damage per second while you take 50 damage per second. After 5 seconds, you cancel by moving, spitting them out. The AOE of acid that is spat is maybe, 250 (5s*50)

Nice spell idea..how bout devouring a hero and then deal 15/30/45/60 damage per second to it and deal extra damage the same amount of an enemy's attack but u take 50/60/70/80 damage per second to self..

yeah obviously devour on a hero you shouldnt be able to move, as u cud probly just take them back to ur base then have them killed there...but good ideas keep em coming

Now there is an interesting an helpful contribution.

But i already have aerial shackles on my hero, its called threaded web...
