Map Editing help needed

Hello, i found a Hero Arena map that i enjoyed but it had a few bugs, i taught myself how to sort it out and when i had finished fixing them all, i saved it, but it wouldn't save as .w3m for some strange reason, instead it insists in saving in .w3x format...

how can i stop it doing this?

What does the dialog say when you try to save it?

Thats trying to save it as TFT, find out if it has any expansion-only terrain, units, custom abilities/doodads/destructibles/buffs/upgrades (At all)... a few triggers are expansion-only (Alot actually)...

i should mention i only have warcraft3

it doesnt say anything when i save it just automaticly resaves it as a .w3x file

What kind of editor are you using? Is it the default?...

im using the world editor that came on the warcraft3 disk...

it opend the map file with no trouble and allowed to me edit anything but its just saving it i have problems with

You must be trying edit a TFT map with RoC. That's not possible.

but how do i have a frozen throne map downloaded in my map/downloads file?

espeacialy when i dont have TFT so therefore can't download and/or play on reign on chaos right?

Then it's the opposite. You are trying to transform a pre-existing RoC map into a TFT map, which isn't possible.

It's simple. You have TFT. You try to edit a RoC map to transform it to be playable with TFT by adding TFT-exclusive units, doodads, ect. You get an error message saying it failed. Therfore, you can not edit RoC maps to be recognized as a TFT map. For example, once you put a beastmaster in the RoC map and try to save it, the save will fail, because the beastmaster is TFT only.

Your explanation is simple, but wrong. If you put a Beastmaster into a RoC map, it turns into a TFT map.

This is probably happening because there are a few bugs in the RoC editor that incorrectly cause the map to be flagged as a TFT map.

The easy solution is to get TFT.

When you first saved the map (When it turned into TFT) did it say 'This map now requires the expansion because: ...'?

Also this might be possible, click save as > type your map name > check the box under the name see if it says "Warcraft III - Reign of Chaos" (Or anything similar) then try to save. Also, like they said if u put a beastmaster in a map it converts to TFT... how would you get a beastmaster using RoC editor? Well for some odd reason you have a beastmaster in there take it out then do like I said above...

Also, go to map description and check if it says it requires expansion only

- Expansion-only doodads/destructibles are being used
- Expansion-only units are being used
- Expansion-only custom data values are being used (Object Editor)
