So I got this ethernet cable and plugged it into the back of my xbox and into the ethernet port on my laptop and went to test conenctions and it says...

Network Adapter - Wired
IP Adress - Failed

And it stops the test

Im using Vista and my internet is Verizon wireless broadband (AirCard 595).
I tried going to my internet options and setting my Verizon connection to Shared but that had no effect so I went and got the Physical Adress for my connection to the xbox and put that in the "Alternate MAC Adress" and tried to connect again witht hat in there and my verizon connection set to shared and it STILL fails... I was told that if it keeps failing after that im using dial up and theres no hope?

EDIT: Just looked at my gateway has nothing but 0's.... How do I change that to what it needs to be and what does it need to be?
Also my DNS settings are all 0's dunno if thats important or not...

EDIT2: I just looked and went to the connection IP adress and its slightly diffrent that the one my xbox displays by a couple numbers, Are they supposed to be 100% the same?

PS: Is the Ethernet Cable that comes with the xbox 360 a crossover cable or a straight through cable? I was told it only works with a crossover cable.

What did you mean you couldn't bridge the connection, what happened?
