Object Editing (Custom Abilities)

Hello,

I recently started using World Editor, I read several articles around about editing, and learned some of the basics and now trying to create some custom heroes based on normal hero characters with different abilities.

Mostly changing the stats, names and icons of the spells and giving them to heroes works fine. I even made some with custom icons with using Wc3 Image Extractor II. But I have several issues.

Firstly, after I edit it some of the info in "Text-Tooltip-Normal-Extended" section doesn't appear on the game. Sometimes it appears partially or not at all. I compared the spells with their originals or similars but couldn't find out why.

Secondly, my custom icon appears on the game perfectly, I placed the normal and research icons, so far it's fine. But when I click the Hero Abilities in the game when I don't have points to spend the icon supposed to look like dark (disabled icon) but instead there's a green box. Now, I made the disabled icon along with the normal one, and put them into their directories. I choosed the Normal icon for "Normal" and "Research" icons but couldn't find where to put the disabled icon.

I'd appreciate if you can help me. Thanks.

For the icon thing make sure you're using the correct path. Don't ask me what it is :p

The disabled icon doesn't have to be put anywhere, it just needs the right image path.
Let's say your normal icon has this path:
ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNxxxxx.blp
Then the disabled version must have this one:
ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\DISBTNxxxx.blp

I advice you to always use this path for your icons. It's the standard path and you'll have the least problems with it.
Also note that the normal icon has the "BTN" prefix and the disabled "DISBTN".

Yes I'm using that path, I did it as it was written here. It's seems to be correct. I can upload a screenshot and link it here if you like to check.

I changed both icon and Text-Tooltip-Normal-Extended. The info I put in Tooltip either disappears completely or partially.

It seems like this:

Learn Ability

Level 1 - First Level Hero Ability
Level 2 - Sec


The following text not visible. Most of the time this happens, not sure what causes this, when I compare it to another spell it seems to be correct but in the game it's just like this.

Do you mind uploading your map? Or a small test map with the same issues?
Long distance diagnosis is kind of troublesome :p

Does your tooltip show some random letters/numbers/symbols sometimes? If it is, try changing the base ability. If its all of your abilities thats expericing this problem then I guess it something else.

for icon paths .. which took me a while to figure out why some were just showing green..

you have to name them exactly the same to your spell

so using s3rius e.g

Let's say your normal icon has this path:
ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNxxxxx.blp
Then the disabled version must have this one:
ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\DISBTNxxxx.blp


so lets say your spell you want to use for the icon is called "AMERICAN JUSTICE"

your icons paths will have to be

ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNAMERICAN_JUSTICE.blp
Then the disabled version must have this one:
ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\DISBTNAMERICAN_JUSTICE.blp

Thanks, I checked the file names and figured out the icon problem, it was a minor spelling error in the name of the icon, I fixed it and it works okay now.

But I still have the tooltip problem. It seems whenever I enter a custom info for the spells, the tooltip extensions either completely or partially disappear. But it happens even if I don't touch the original spell datas, like damage or duration etc. If I just change the icon (with an in-game icon), it works fine also. So I thought I was doing something wrong while editing tooltips extensions and I made another spell, with a custom icon, with a custom name but I didn't touch the original tooltip extensions.

I edited:

Art Icon - Normal and Resarch
Text - Hotkey Learn
Text - Name
Text - Tooltip - Learn
Level 1 - Text - Tooltip - Normal

I left the "Level 1 - Text - Tooltip - Normal - Extended" untouched but they still partially appeared on my test.

It seems whether I touch the tooltip extension field or not the problem happens if it's a custom spell.

I fixed this problem, there were some errors in the code fields, I edited them and works fine now.

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

    I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart

    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
