RPG Ability poll

So, I was wondering. if players in a general would prefer one way of leveling abilities.
one way will be the standard. Pick classes get preset Abilities.

also killing creeps and rewards to quests/bosses dropping tomes to use to gain abilities and then being able to unlearn them, and leveling them by level.

Or Killing creeps/bosses and quest rewards to gain tomes that increase a spells level every time you use a tome.

Example 1: I picked a male warrior. My skills are rend, charge, Fury, Blood rage, and Storm bolt.

Example 2: I picked up a tome of Raise Skeleton, I used it. And i learned Raise skeleton. At level 2 ill be able to raise 2 skeletons.

Example 3: I picked up a tome of chain lightning. and used it to learn Chain lightning. a Little while later. I picked up another tome. And used it. And learned Chain lightning level 2.

I have figured out a way to do all of these methods. But I dont know which approach might be more liked than another. Because i havent played an RPG with these last 2 options.

Please poll your opinion. and if you can give me any Pros/Cons about the different styles. Please leave me some feed back. Or if you just want to. Leave some feed back.

The second one, I like customizable classes, but buying spells is annoying. I think it would work well.

Come to think of it, maybe put some limits on it, like not letting strength heroes get 10000 AoE nukes. As that could be kind of stupid, and make intel hero's rather pointless. Why increase your mana pool with damage when you could in crease you health or attack speed/armour.

This is what I am planning on having, Then from there your pretty much let loose in a giant RPG,

So Intell Heros, Can get Rend, Slashing Strikes, Warcry, Pummel, And an Ice bolt. And the Ice bolt will do way better off. Because Your an Intelligence based person. Strength Will trickle in, as you gain intelligence. You can sure cast alot of ice bolts. but thats it.

Vice versa: A strength hero can get Frost nova, Summon Skeletons, inferno, ice Shards, And tackle. its great, you got 12K health! toobad your mana is 1K, and can cast only a few spells before being depleted and your armor+mana regen is is still consiterably slow.

It will take a while to balance. But Ill try to balance things the best i can.

Sorry I thought extra spaces would be saved in the line. but i guesse its not.

How ever, you choose male/femal

Then you choose Intell/Agi/Str

Then you roam the world getting random drops/Buyable tomes/ Bosses.

Number Three, thinking slightly realisiticly, if a tome taught somebody a skill? Would he magically INDEPENDENTLY be able to improve it? I think not!

But also think along the lines of, I know how to throw a stone. How ever. the more i practise and throw, the more accurate i am of hitting something with it. If i learned how to throw fireballs, im pretty sure some how you can learn to throw bigger and better fire balls with enough time. Thats just my side of your question.
