Target spells to AoE spells

How do I change target spells to area of effect. For example, slow or sleep. How do I make them hit an area instead of target a single unit.

Unfortunately, that isn't possible and must be triggered. I'd advise using an AOE spell such as blizzard, and doing a trigger that picks all units in the aoe and creates a dummy to cast the spell. GL
