Trees as Units?

Well I did a search but I can't seem to find anything on it. Whenever I try to use a tree as a unit it has the ugly white skinless model instead. How do I appoint the ingame skins to the unit once I've made a tree into a building?

I would just use the tree doodads but doodad triggers are unbearably painful to work with. >.<

For most tree doodads, that will happen.

But, try using the Sunken Ruins Tree, I don't think its under Destructibles.

I see. Thanks! Although I may consider spawning a unit and then using said units location to spawn a tree, since units can not appear on top of anything (unlike doodads).

Yup, make the spawning unit with no model.

If your tree can be selected:

Make it so that whenever your tree is selected, make the triggering player select the dummy unit, with whatever characteristics or abilities you want.
