Triggering an Aura - basics - please help

I would like to make some custom auras through triggers but I am not sure where to start. Could someone please explain the basic concept of creating an aura with triggers?

Example: Slow Aura - slows movement speed of nearby enemies.
I would run a trigger every .5 seconds of game time that creates a dummy unit and casts slow on all enemies in range of the aura. How do I then remove the effects of slow when they leave the range of the aura?

Am I on the right track here or is there a better approach?

EDIT - I am not trying to trigger a slow aura. I have given it as an example. I am only trying to understand how to trigger any aura. How to add/remove the effects that I want.

The slow aura was just an example. I want to make more complex auras that are not able to be done by just changing values on a standard aura. This is why I am asking for help with Triggering an aura.

i know no way of "creating an aura" with triggers.

I believe that you will need to use the preset, then modify the units with that buff or effect.

Periodic timer which casts a spell with a duration with the same length as the periodic timer on units which have the particular buff.
So say, every 1.00 seconds of game time, all units with the buff Brilliance Aura have a 1.00 second Inner Fire cast on them by a dummy unit?

Not sure what the best way to trigger that is, it was just an idea.

trigger using movement speeds instead. you will have to use complex systems to store movement speeds of every unit you are dealing with. u can then use "unit comes within range" or unit leaves region.

actually that's stupid, sicne you're making an aura, you would have to show a buff anyway, so a dummy aura first, and then you can detect units periodically if they have the buff or not and set their movement speeds accordingly.

the best solution would still be endurance aura with negative values, i dont really understand why u want to trigger the movement speeds when it cna be so easily done by shift clicking the movement speed values in endurance aura.

as long as the skill is an aura, you will add a buff. the buff can be a dummy, it doesnt matter. you can use the trigger condition "unit has buff of type". Use low duration spells casted from dummies, 2 seconds is ok. then make a 1 second periodic trigger. make sure you remove leaks, otherwise it will lag like crazy.

Pozor - I think I see where you are going with that. I'll give it a try thank you.

TriggerHappy - I don't know JASS and I really don't want to put something into my map if I don't know how it works. But thank you for the post I'm sure someone that uses JASS will see it and get good use out of it.

what ZiggyMcjoney said would look something like this

event - unit learns an ability
conditions - ability learned is equal to (aura)
actions - add (triggering unit) to (auraunitgroup)

event - every 1 seconds of game time
conditions - none
actions - pick every unit in (auraunitgroup) and do actions*
set (userunit) = (picked unit)
*pick every unit within (aurarange) matching (matching unit is affected by aura = true) and do actions**
**create 1 dummy for (owner of (userunit)
**order (last created unit) to (cast spell with desired effect) on (picked unit)
**remove position leaks/add expiration timer
*remove unit group leak
remove unit group leak

Here you go, right out of my own map, this is a damage aura much like immolation but the damage is based on the Str of the hero useing it, the PH array and the boolean are set at hero select. This aura also gives the main unit a 1% HP regeneration.

Well can u just make a negative endurance aura or unholy aura. Use Shift button of keyboard + left click from mouce and add a negative value

a dummy aura ability to give marker buff, then periodic time to cast actual buff

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart

    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
