Two OS's?

K, so I was wondering... I have another OS on my system, and it's taking up ALOT of space, like 30 GB. Which makes me mad, because basically all my space is used up on my C drive now, I have an E but i just use that for other files. So, anyway, how would I delete the other OS that i don't use? If i try to start it up, it says it's missing a .dll file. But i just want it off my computer and away forever!!!! I tried inserting the Windows XP CD (yes i use XP, fyi) when i turned it off and started it up with the CD in it, and it didn't do anything. I need a surefire way to take it off.

Edit: the other OS is XP also. I tried overwriting the original XP, and it just kinda... stayed and filled up my hard drive.

Do you mean on startup, there's 2 OSs listed on a black screen?

Yes, but I know how to get rid of those, i want the whole other OS off my system. it shows like:

XP Home Edition
Xp Home Edition

they are the same, but the second one is missing a .dll file, plus i just don't want it on there since it's taking a lot of space.

yeah, what i'm thinking is the other OS has stuff installed on it. I had A bunch of stuff on it when i tried to overwrite it, to delete it all and start over.

Edit: actually, it had stuff installed on it. =P

Your other XP is already partitioned to take up 30GB, so no matter how much you uninstall, it will sill occupy 30GB.

I heard of a program called Partition Magic that might work. You will have to try and search for it. Im not at home now btw...

mmm... Partition magic just divides the hard drive into two partitions. >.>. I don't think that's what I'm looking for. Anyway, how would it still take up 30 GB if i, "uninstalled it"?

The easiest way is to reformat the drive and start fresh from the beginning. You have other drive, right? So you can copies all necesary documents to that drive. Or this is not an option for you?

no, I have an E drive, It's a external hard drive. I spose I could do that. But I dont want to end up having 3 partitions. You mean reformat as in use my Windows XP CD and reinstall windows, again, right? Because like i said, I ended up having another OS because i reinstalled windows again, and it flipped out for some reason. Flipping out meaning not erasing the old OS.

mm, no i did because i didn't use the other drive before i installed the other OS, and it had 250GB on it after i put the other OS on, and it had that much before. I'm definitely sure it's on my C:\\ drive. Hopefully I get a new computer for christmas though, but otherwise I want to get this problem solved.
