Coded references to New Testament Bible passages about Jesus Christ are inscribed on high-powered rifle sights provided to the United States military by a Michigan company, an ABC News investigation has found.

The sights are used by U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and in the training of Iraqi and Afghan soldiers. The maker of the sights, Trijicon, has a $660 million multi-year contract to provide up to 800,000 sights to the Marine Corps, and additional contracts to provide sights to the U.S. Army.

U.S. military rules specifically prohibit the proselytizing of any religion in Iraq or Afghanistan and were drawn up in order to prevent criticism that the U.S. was embarked on a religious "Crusade" in its war against al Qaeda and Iraqi insurgents.

One of the citations on the gun sights, 2COR4:6, is an apparent reference to Second Corinthians 4:6 of the New Testament, which reads: "For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ."

More about it here.

Despite Extensive Online discussions, Military Denies Knowledge Of Bible Verses

Responding to the revelation that rifle sights used by the military in Iraq and Afghanistan are inscribed with Bible citations, a Marine Corps spokesman told TPMmuckraker today that the branch simply didn't know about the inscriptions until inquiries were made last week.

But posts on gun enthusiast forums from as early as 2006 and Youtube videos watched thousands of times extensively discuss the Bible verses on the Trijicon rifle sights, casting doubt on the military's claim that it was unaware of what was apparently a poorly kept secret.

More.

Well it was silly of the military to outright DENY the existence of these quotes when there are pictures and videos of the stuff out there. It makes them look foolish.

While I am from a religious background and I like the idea of the soldiers carrying scripture verses into battle, if the company defied the law than it isnt ok. I dont mind if a soldier writes or inscribes his scope/barrel or bullet with religious quotes, but thats his choice. If they directly defied the law then it is the companies problem, however if the military bought the product after the inscriptions were place on the scope/barrel, then its the military who needs to specify what they want "NEXT TIME." I find this interesting because a lot of the military write things on their bombs, rifles, missles and other "Death machines." Like I said it really is only an issues if the company inscribed them after the miltiary purchased the product.

Yeah, that's new.

They do that themselves though. I don't think it's religious most of the tine, usually it says like "FUCK YOU" or something.

Yea, I thought I said that in my post, that they do it themselves, it isnt like the manufacturer does. If they want to write a scripture verse on their gun, or a bullet that says "good bye" then I really dont care. But, if we manufactured all guns to "Carry the good news..." it can be interpreted as you will, it just doesnt work.

Oh I thought you were supporting the company and saying the military should have told them not to, my bad if I misinterpreted.

I personally don't think it's that big of a deal; and I don't think that you're allowed to inscribe things onto your gun, not really sure though I'd have to ask someone. I mean honestly, I wouldn't give a shit what it said so long as it worked good.

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
