Unit Making Contest

No... I'm not expecting an appology to you... I am just letting you know what I am thinking... and I am contacting a mod because you are insulting me... and no.. I really don't think they will do shit about it... they never do (not anywhere else at least... why would here be different?) but it doesn't hurt to try... and I am not just trying to get people to do work for me/ help me... I am trying to ggive a competitive atmosphere... push them to do there best work.. not just throw something together in a few minutes for someone on a forum. and no matter how much you disagree with this... I'm still not wrong in attempting it... a mod did ask me to ask before starting a contest and I am cancelling this contest anyway (even before deciding to leave) because of that... I am not going to listen to you telling me not to do.. but a mod is different.. they actually have authority over me in the forum hierarchy :p ... ... I'll just finish the map on another fourm... maybe one where people understand using competion to bring out someones best work...

I appologize :) for once a mod actually acted like he cared about my problem :D YAY for this forum...

Now that you mention it... http://www.thehelper.net/forums/showgroups.php? :p

Edit: Actually, I don't mind asking for help for your project. Just say it so, without any contest stuff. You are involving people who truly care about the project and practically use all the material they make. Plus it is clear what you need the stuff for.

Look... I have absolutely nothing against you (okay, maybe a little, because of the attitude with making this contest, or else I wouldn't have -rep'd you). If someone else made such a contest, believe me, I would have -rep'd him at once! Why don't you go ahead and actually ask people to help you with the map? Because this contest actually asks for multilateral modders, while you could actually search for specialised modders (modelers, spellmakers, lore concept artists). Much more efficient, and as I was saying, clearer.

well I just realize something... wth is one mod gonna do to another mod? reporting you to a mod is like me going to city hall and saying hey we have a corrupt cop in the city... no one's gonna listen to me.. they will tell me I'm crazy and send me home

Actually, it's not like that. The mods indeed agree that I was harsh, and I personally agree with that. I could have said it nicely but it does not always work. And honestly, I am sick and tired of such fake contests. If you make a contest then you must truly be very good in the field in which you are making it (let it be modelling, spellmaking and so on and so forth), and you must judge it. But you must judge the materials by quality as in not only how they look, but also how they were made (for example, for models polycount is very important, while spells shouldn't leak or have unefficient code).

Also rules should be strict and clear... They shouldn't be abstract and be just "make whatever model/spell etc. you want, as long as it is good". And also, scoring is important to. What are you judging for? Is it looks, is it quality, is it complexity, is it implementability in warcraft 3 and compatibility with it? There are very many things to take in consideration before starting a contest.

I hope now you understand what I mean!

This wasn't to make it how well can you do what your good at contest though... It was a how well can you implement almost every aspect of the object editor/trigger editor and your ability to use outside resources (Custom model). Not just what your good at... also this was for my map... which I thought I map very clear... your units will appear in my map... is that not clear enough? I have the scoring listed at the bottom... look at the points each is worth to realize it's importance... obviously uniquness is very important as are the abilities... by doing this I got one entry that I thought was simply amazing entered by OMGWTFBACON... it was a night elf hero with a good story behind it.. was unique... had good abilities... he never made it but the out-line for it was perfect for what I wanted... the only bad thing was it was for a hero :p not a unit... I should make the clearer... since I believe the response from other mods was quick and I believe sufficient I think I will stay... but I am taking this contest elsewhere so that I may still hold it in peace ;)

eilhal, you can always use tinting/size differences/attachments to make units with the same model appear more different...

Yes it is because mods do not approve of starting more contests/I am sick of getting insulted for "making other people do my work"

also I realize about size and thiting... but it is supposed to be VERY unique... and most people won't think it's a big deal but I do :p

although I may start it up on another forum (I will post a link to it here) so keep your work :D

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
