Human - first mass footman with paladin. Be sure to upgrade your main building as soon as possible. Then get the firelord and start to mass better units. Eventually, get arch/blood mage to help and mass gryphon and dragon hawk riders.

Orc - mass grunts, get tauren chieftan and instantly learn his aura. Then you should do ok.

Undead - Pick a strong hero and mass ghouls. Get graveyard, upgrade necropolis and then get spiders and their upgrades at the same time. Later get obsidian statues with destroyer upgrade and allow them to morph into destroyers. Get either tinker or pit lord or ranger and get them up to their level 6 ultimate power. Now your ready for enemies.

Nightelf - any hero will help you brilliantly, some use priestess. Most use demon hunter and warden, but i prefer the keeper of the grove. Get your favourite and learn any of these:

Warden = Fan of Knives
Demon Hunter = Immolation
Priestess = Trueshot Aura
Kepper of the Grove = Force of Nature

Eventually, get any passive aiblities possible (evasion/ thorns aura etc) and upgrade as soon as possible to get the firelord. At first mass archers and huntress', then later mass anything you can get (preferably things that attack air, but get mountain giants to help). Make sure any heroes you get go up to level 6 ready to attack. Also, your 3rd hero should come from the altar, not the tavern.

TIPS:

always use neutral buildings whenver possible.
always creep.
dont die to creeps.
never attack without controlling your hero.
help allies when they need.
always use scroll or staff of telpeortation when needed.
always talk to allies and devise a plan at the start of the game or else you will argue over what to do and the enemy will defeat you!
practice offline to get the hang of strategies, or else people will get angry at you and say things like "you suck!" or call you a noob.

Anyways, good luck playing, if you cant cut it as a bnet player just play the custom games, they're fun!

FRENZIED GRYPHS.... total ownage. With storm hammers you can get about 1000 dmg a sec. (that is fully upgraded) Banish a hero and focus fire ur gryphs on him/her. There is no way that the hero will survive due to magic dmg of gryphs and bonus from banish.

Try it out, its so fun. :shades:

always keep your cool and don't panick and start cussing at your teamm8s
If your teamm8 is a noob, try to help him instead of cussing at him for being bad..

Always try to get some defending units at beginning.

NE: 1 archer 2 hunts (if you're going for bears or dryads)
if not then go 5 archers..

Orc: 3 grunts or more

undead: well you'll always have defence ;)

Always try to think before acting
Don't get too confident
Scout
NEVER forget to creep. Creep whenever u have your chance..
Win
and hope you never go against some1 you helped being better at bnet ladder games :p

I have 2 cents!

time for my 2 cents.

HU: hero- pali or archmage
Mass footies untill you can get a blacksmith. GET DEFEND!!!! defend is one of the least used abilities, and can help alot playing NE or UD (when UD gets fiends, and gargs, and NE gets dryads and archers) Then churn out guns (AA and damage) and priests. When in doubt, steam tank rush)

ORC: hero- BM
Harass, mass grunts. Later, get some HH, and doctors (stun ward is awesome)

UD: Hero- Death knight
start by getting 5 ghouls (for creeping and wood) mass fiends, fast tech to stats/abombs/necs

NE- Hero- Demon hunter or KotG
DH- Harass, get some archers, creep, mass hunts, rush
KotG I disagree about getting tree summon first. get roots first, because it freezes beople, and costs less mana, and does dmg. Get some archers, creep, then rush.

You guys don't play very much ladder do you, heh

Ok, human, footmen and paladin, no no no no no no no. Footmen are quite easily the worst tier 1 unit. Early game, versus a competant person, it's going to be all hit and run and hero surrounds, which footmen, and the human heroes, are very bad at doing (only real chance is a mountain king bolt and surround). Compare a footman to something like a dryad, which basically costs as much gold (and NEs always have an abundance of wood so wood really isn't a cost for them), and the footman, when killed, gives the SAME exp. Even ghouls, while they may have less hp to start off with, have better synergy with their heroes, as they can sleep/surround, unholy aura/surround, nova/surround, or impale/surround.

Human is a tier 2 race, and you want to get there as soon as safely possible. This usually means walling off 1-2 towers, making at most 4-5 footmen to creep with, then going into rifle/caster as soon as you can. Generally the first human hero is Archmage, but mountain king can work. I've seen Paladin in the odd case vs Undead, for divine shield and holy light harassment of acolytes, but this strat has become less popular as of late. Human tri-hero is very effective and one of the more seen strats at higher ladder play.

Specifically vs each race

Human vs Undead - this is a bad matchup for human because of destroyers. The only thing human can do in this matchup if it gets to mass dests is make a TON of gyros with flak. Everything else falls to the dests+UD nuking. To make matters worse, dests do extra damage to human towers, so no expand you put up is safe. For humans, it usually ends up as mass gyros and them hoping their heroes are stronger in the end. If you have a ghoul masser of an undead, thunder clap on the MK can absolutely stop it dead.

Human vs Orc - Orc has no real counter to rifle caster and absolutely no retort to gryphons. Don't even think about trying to fight footmen vs grunts, because the orc heroes will easily destroy your footmen and send any damaged grunts back to base to salve up. Get armor upgrades on the Gryphons as a priority so that the orc actually loses money trying to kill them with batriders. Other than that, Gryphons are pure orc domination.

Human vs NE - This depends a lot of what the NE is massing. It's almost always going to be a quick rush bears vs human, because human has the worst melee in the game. Knights don't compete with bears. Most human will tend to do a mix of rifle caster breakers vs bears. The breakers serve a role in this in that they actually get a decent DPS vs bears with feedback, and they can steal the imbajuvenate. In this case, getting blizzard on your archmage will be way better than water elemental, get a tome of retraining if it is necessary. If the NE prefers to swarm masses of huntresses, dryads, or archers, throw in some mortar teams with fragmentation shards into the rifle caster mix. If it's a lot of dryads, make more priests and less sorcs.

Human vs Human - I don't see this matchup all that often, though when I do it tends to be centered around Knights and Priests and AOEs.

Human usually needs to outresource the other races, so try to take expands as soon as you can. Maps like lost temple are custom built for fast expands, and you can go creep the expand with a few wood militia and your hero.

ive been using this stratagy for undead for a couple weeks now...

-Start out w/ 2 acolytes on gold, put ghoul on lumber.
-Have spare acolyte build crypt and then a ziggarut, then send it to gold.
-Summon 3 more acolytes. First 2 for gold. 3rd for building.
-When crypt compleates, train 2 ghouls and put them on lumber.
-Use spare acolyte to build Alter and then ziggurut. Next building will be a graveyard.
-Summon more ghouls
-When alter is done summon dreadlord and take 3 ghouls of lumber to go and creep.

This is the basic start i use for undead and ive won every time ive tried this...my stratagy is slightly different every time...but all of them are based off this...

Gryphons are pure orc domination
If you're playing orc vs Human, and you let the human get gryphons, the orc deserves to lose.

As orc, get Fs Tc and 5 grunts at tier two.
Rush with level 2 wolves and chainwave.
Chances are he'll retreat behind his hall, hoping to get a good call to arms.
Kill Arcance sanctum now, as its just finishing being built.
Let him call, run back.
Using some micro and common sense, pick off his units without fighting militia.
GG.
If you don't win now, he's going to get sorc's and you're pretty screwed. Your best bet is either raider/demo or zerks with a couple of shams for lightning shield and purge.

You won't be taking a human base with chainwave and 5 grunts. Human always will make a stop at rifle/caster before they go griffons, and only a moron brings out militia in the face of a chainwave. A non-newbie human will always try to build his base in a fashion resembling the old starcraft wallin, which means you're going to be dealing with towers behind defenses while your units scurry around trying to get a way in. It will be enough to hold you out with water elementals, a few footmen, and tower support without having to call in militia, and by then, your chainwave mana will be gone and the arcane sanctum which was put intelligently in the back of the base, will be online making sorcs of GG

Humans: first get mountain King and a footman army with about 5 rifle men. then get the Paladin with an army of about 5 footmen that know defend about 4 rifle men and 2 morter teams. Then get your last hero and an army of about 5 steam tanks, 7 rifle men, 3 priests, and 5 knights, for bonus get alot of sorcerors to slow down your enemy's units to shoot them down with cannons and rifles and stuff. I tryed this and sent my enemies and sent them to Hades god of the under world.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
