Basics of DoTA's Apotic shield

how does the Apotic shield in dota work?

i tried coping the skill i itried using

unit takes damage as event

and heals the unit the amount damaged

but it cannot save the unit if the damage is greater than the units life.

i tried the gay way here...

I gave him an invisible ability!
I made a spell, based on... hardened skin, then made it an item ability.

I gave it to the dude, and I made a variable, where I store all the damage taken, if it's equal to the limit, then remove ability.

But if damage is higher than the limit, and the current hit points, I give reduction of 20%, then check if it's still higher.

So, if it's spells, I just heal normally, but of course, it's in a different trigger.

Er... correct me if I'm mistaken; doesn't Apotic Shield create a shield that absorbs up to X damage, and then unleashes it to nearby enemies?

yes thats correct.

The thing is... Aphotic Shield in dota is much more complicated than just unit takes damage.

i just want to know how would you get the damage taken with out actually damaging the unit?

And there is another little feature to Apothic Shield. If you cast it during a spell named Borrowed Time, you get healed for the damage you take.

its made but its in jass ahehehe. i cant read jass like that. its too complicated for me. i just want to know how it works

This seems only doable in JASS, because you have to get the event damage. For the caster not to take damage but still get the event damage, you temporarily set his life very high, test for the event damage, do what the Aphotic Shield does, then set his life back to normal. No one would notice because it is only a split second trigger.

I do not know how to make this spell MUI either because of using a global variable.
