Color Codes & Item Description

Hello, I am working with items. I would like to beable to like my text up in the Text - Description, and the Text - Tooltip - Extended. I am trying to line up the text straight up and down, for example one item is like this:

Shield
Type: Shield
Armor: 2

That is how I want the text to line up, but I think the color codes are making it line up differently. Here is how it looks in the editor:

|cffAAAAAAShield|r|n
|cffD98719Type:|r|nShield
|cffD98719Armor:|r|n2

This is how it looks in game, but imagine with colors:

Shield

Type:
Shield
Armor:
2

I want it to look like the very 1st example but with the colors to. Also if I dont use the color codes then the text lines up just fine ingame but when i add the codes, it looks like I show above, example 3.

hmm.. this is what I would think, but somehow your results doesn't seem to fit..

|cffAAAAAAShield|r|n|cffD98719Type:|r Shield|n|cffD98719Armor:|r2

|n creates a line break... so anywhere you don't want it to look like
this, remove the |n.

For example:

Warcraft |nIII

Looks like

Warcraft
III

in game.

you have to write the tooltip like this:
|cffAAAAAAShield|r|n
|cffD98719Type:|rShield|n
|cffD98719Armor:|r2

the |n is a break, afterwards all text will be written in the next line.

you have to write the tooltip like this:
|cffAAAAAAShield|r|n
|cffD98719Type:|rShield|n
|cffD98719Armor:|r2

the |n is a break, afterwards all text will be written in the next line.

please look at the example i have given.

the "|n" got to be after the "Shield" in the second line. and in the third it got to be removed completely.

eric92:

Just incase you're thinking that the "|n" at the end is part of the colour code, it isn't. A colour code ends with |r. The |n is a line break, bringing the text to the next line.

@Accname and @Eric.

|cffAAAAAAShield|r|n|cffD98719Type:|r Shield|n|cffD98719Armor:|r2

My example is exactly the same thing, and it works. Tried it in the editor now. So why not just use it? :)

As already have been said, doing line breaks like
this
in tooltips doesn't work. You have to use a |n

Here is an example of how an item from my map looks like:

Roots made through century stone absorbing proportions. Also boosts armor by 4|n|n|c009B041814% chance on attack to immobilize an enemy for 2 seconds, dealing full duration of 28 damage|r|n|n|c00E2A516Effect causes roots to burst out of the ground, trapping the unit with vicious vines. The unit cannot move, cast spells or attack and receives 14 damage each second for a maximum of 2 seconds|r|n|n|c003DB53BHas a maximum of 125 range within attack location to capture an enemy|r

Use |n for newline.
Use |r to end a color code.

To sucessfully implement a code from a hex editor do:

1) Google for hex color editors.
2) Copy the code you like
3) Write "|c00" and Paste the code inside.

Be sure to write the |c00 part, because that is a start of almost any color code in Warcraft.

Item ingame looks like this:

Roots made through century stone absorbing proportions. Also boosts armor by 4

14% chance on attack to immobilize an enemy for 2 seconds, dealing full duration of 28 damage

Effect causes roots to burst out of the ground, trapping the unit with vicious vines. The unit cannot move, cast spells or attack and receives 14 damage each second for a maximum of 2 seconds

Has a maximum of 125 range within attack location to capture an enemy

Now add to my reputation because all the other posts suck. XD

News portal has been retired. Main page of site goes to Headline News forum now
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am working on getting access to the old news portal under a different URL for those that would rather use that for news before we get a different news view.

    Easily done

https://www.thehelper.net/pages/news/ is a link to the old news portal - i will integrate it into the interface somewhere when i figure it out

    Need to try something
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hopefully this won't cause problems.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hmm
  • Ghan Ghan:
I have converted the Headline News forum to an Article type forum. It will now show the top 20 threads with more detail of each thread.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    See how we like that.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do not see a way to go past the 1st page of posts on the forum though
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is OK though for the main page to open up on the forum in the view it was before. As long as the portal has its own URL so it can be viewed that way I do want to try it as a regular forum view for a while
  • Ghan Ghan:
Yeah I'm not sure what the deal is with the pagination.
  • Ghan Ghan:
It SHOULD be there so I think it might just be an artifact of having an older style.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I switched it to a "Standard" article forum. This will show the thread list like normal, but the threads themselves will have the first post set up above the rest of the "comments"
  • The Helper The Helper:
I don't really get that article forum but I think it is because I have never really seen it used on a multi post thread
  • Ghan Ghan:
RpNation makes more use of it right now as an example: https://www.rpnation.com/news/
