Deathcoil Problem

So I've created a dummy spell based off Deathcoil whos purpose is to simply launch a projectile that causes damage and doesnt add a buff or stun or any such thing to the target. The problem is that it always causes the Deathcoil target graphic; the black swirl that appears on the target upon impact. I've tried changing the target art but that didn't work, so it seems like a simple problem that I just can't figure out. Any way I can just get a simple projectile-damage dummy spell?

Don't think there's a such a spell that you can base it from. I mean.. I've never seen a game with it, like DotA, WoW arena, all thoose melee damage spells are based on fire/storm bolt with 0.01 stun time.

It adds buff if I'm not mistaking..
so make the buff last .1 seconds, just like stormbolt based missiles does in dota, that stuns for 0.1 second

Its only thier because acid bomb can do so much, Direct damage, Damage over time, both, AOE, single target, armor reduce, move/attack speed reduce.

Set the duration to 0 or .1 whichever works better. and just use the missle and the direct damage portion

Personally i think thats just horrible playstyle to have all your missle spells stun for .1 second, it ruins channels(starfall, tranquility) and spell block(amulet of spell block/linken shield for dota players) if you want it to stun, use stormbolt, if not use acid bomb, or channel

Does channel have a missile?

and doesnt it have a AOE targetting circle thingie -option too right?

You might be able to use the desired spell after all. It is just to create a copy of the buff and switch that out for the spell. They should not overwrite eachother then.

Many people underestimates the powers of the buffs. Shame on you who do that:p

Channel is the way to go. You can set it to have a single unit target, note I'd don't know if you can give Channel a missile, I've never tried, If you can't you'll have to create the missile via a trigger, you'd have to do that for the damage anyway. A unit with locust and your intended missile art will get the job done. There are a couple systems that will make missiles for you but if you only doing this with one spell its not worth the time and space to include.

Copy Acid bomb Buff...rename to somthing else...then wolah..they dont overwrite

I'm still relatively inexperienced, but one of the first units I made was a Dryad hero. I took the normal dryad and increased her size...
I didn't know how to make a non-hero unit a hero, so I started from a hero unit, I think Mountain King, and then picked eveything to make it different stats...
the missile projectile was easy to switch, but, first I got it wrong and the missile used the unit dryad. She threw an identical image to herself which flew at the target, and when it got there died on the target.. I found what I wanted was still called Dryad but it was under Missiles instead of units. I think that the art was all I had to change to give her the normal attack.

Just use chain or forked lightning. Remove the lightning effects, make it only hit 1 unit, and then modify its projectile art or any other fields to whatever you want.

Chain spells cannot have projectile missles.

And buffs from identicle spells of origin do in fact overwrite.
