Has anyone here had their wisdom teeth removed? If so, just how painful was it?

I have no idea myself, I have a tooth that's somehow grown and moved in to the roof of my gum (well away from my teeth), having that removed in September (other than that, my teeth are relatively straight and so I avoid not only having other teeth removed but becoming a stereo-type too)

All I can say is good luck with the procedure.

I've heard that you don't feel much pain during the operation, but your mouth should be really sore afterward.

Best luck to you, and I hope for a speedy recovery.

I got em removed a few months ago.. it's painless during the surgery, and actually pretty pleasant afterwards. The laughing gas gets you kind of high and it's pretty nice. After that.. a little bit of soreness and my cheeks swelled up for like a week. It looked funny.

Yes you wont feel pain during the pulling but after that you start getting feeling back in your mouth it would feel weird the when its completely back then it hurts. GL.

I had mine removed without gas. They just froze the whole area which is something they can do if the teeth aren't impacted. It wasn't that bad. A bit weird to be conscious for it, but no real pain... just felt a lot of pressure and I had to trust that the dentist knew what she was doing and wasn't going to rip my whole jaw out. :)

They gave me a few super-painkiller tablets but I didn't even need to use half of them.

It depends on the Anesthetics you use.

I used a simple one that only lasted for an hour or 2.
I really dislike using strong anesthetics because your mouth feels "strange" afterwords. You will indeed feel nothing during the operation, but I can tell you how it feels like afterwords without any painkillers. It was hell.
So I strongly advise you to take some painkillers that last a whole day. After one day you will hardly feel any pain because your nerves will "accept" the fact that the tooth is gone.

I'm getting knocked out through an IV, so I shouldn't feel anything. They said it would take about 10 days to recover :\

I've had surgeries and stuff with general anesthesia before, you don't feel a thing. You're just kinda awake one minute and then awake another, with no remembrance of the things in between. Kinda cool. :p

As for the pain afterwards, I know a few people who've had it done and they said it wasn't too bad.

Glad to see that it's not too bad.
Don't be so happy, I heard from several guys that it's the equivalent pain as a women giving birth.

Alright I'm back. The doctor basically talked me to sleep while I was on the IV. Woke up can couldnt feel my face. Came back home and slept for 5 hours. Now theres some pain, but it's managable. Still hurts like a bitch when I yawn.

Ugh. Dental work.

When I was a kid, I did not have straight teeth at all and they wound up not only giving me braces, but yanking a few teeth out. They actually sanded down my fang teeth and sharpening the two teeth behind them to compensate.

Hated my retainer, never wore it so my teeth are still not straight, but they're fine as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, I'm getting really tired of all this shit I have to go through. First braces, then the retainer (life-long), now this.

My older brother did not have his wisdom teeth removed and they split two of his molars.

I had 3 removed. If your dentist isn't a butcher at the same time, there is absolutely no reason to worry.

Make sure you apply a stem cell application form, and save your wisdom tooth (teeth) up, just in case when you get old, and you lose a lot of teeth, oyu're best bet would be to implant stem cells and grow your teeth back.

Thank Japan and Wikipedia for this helpful info.

News portal has been retired. Main page of site goes to Headline News forum now
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am working on getting access to the old news portal under a different URL for those that would rather use that for news before we get a different news view.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Easily done

https://www.thehelper.net/pages/news/ is a link to the old news portal - i will integrate it into the interface somewhere when i figure it out
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Need to try something
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hopefully this won't cause problems.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hmm
  • Ghan Ghan:
I have converted the Headline News forum to an Article type forum. It will now show the top 20 threads with more detail of each thread.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    See how we like that.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do not see a way to go past the 1st page of posts on the forum though
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is OK though for the main page to open up on the forum in the view it was before. As long as the portal has its own URL so it can be viewed that way I do want to try it as a regular forum view for a while
  • Ghan Ghan:
Yeah I'm not sure what the deal is with the pagination.
  • Ghan Ghan:
It SHOULD be there so I think it might just be an artifact of having an older style.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I switched it to a "Standard" article forum. This will show the thread list like normal, but the threads themselves will have the first post set up above the rest of the "comments"
  • The Helper The Helper:
I don't really get that article forum but I think it is because I have never really seen it used on a multi post thread
  • Ghan Ghan:
RpNation makes more use of it right now as an example: https://www.rpnation.com/news/
