now ofc i wont divulge too many details since im working on plans(although im not a computer engineer or anything so i can only do basic concept models lol) but im just interested if theirs anything like this.

Basically a compromise between a gaming laptop/luggable and the power of a desktop PC. Like a slightly bulky PC but sleek/compact enough to fit into a back pack. that retains the power and customization desktop PCs have

Show us your "invention" in whatever stage it may be :p

sorry...cant man i dont wanna give anything away XD its just in basic planning out, as i said im no computer engineer...the main idea is for it to be a mobile battle station...not like a laptop nor the bulkyness of a desktop. the plan is to allow the motherboard inside to be like a somewhat hybrid of a typical laptop and desktop...where it can actually use a processor made for a desktop giving it major power, as well as allowing it to be pretty customizable....and as for cooling i had water cooling on my mind. since a big fan would be impractical in something thats portable.

If I wanted to steal your idea, which really is basically a small desktop, I would already be able to steal it. And really it's not even stealing it, as at some point pretty much everyone has come up with the same concept before being like fuck it.

well i take by all of this that it hasnt been invented yet sooooooo....back to the concept art and models!

It hasn't been invented because it's not an invention. It's a slightly smaller form of a desktop computer, which they already have, only with more limitations that make it less ideal than just getting a computer running a micro-ATX or mini-ITX form factor or something. Your focus should be on designing a case that integrates a screen designed around a small form factor with a rechargeable power supply (which, for the record, I've made designs for).

lol if i wanted to make a case id make a case :p this is just supposed to be a mobile battle station that uses some parts from a tower(things like the processor/RAM sticks ect...) That is close to the size of a laptop, but doesnt have a battery....something you can shove into a suit case with your keyboard/mouse and play games at decent FPS on the road....im working on it lol i have a lot of learning and research to do

So you intend on designing a motherboard capable of competing with corporations like Asus and EVGA for the purpose of making a computer that is similar to a laptop in size while being capable of running the power of a desktop and is capable of parts being upgraded using standard hardware used in desktops?

pretty much :D aside from things like the video card...which would have to be like ones made for laptops....

Come on now, you don't gotta go and spit on the boy's dream, there.

Don't squander his hope, whether it's ill-founded or not.

News portal has been retired. Main page of site goes to Headline News forum now
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am working on getting access to the old news portal under a different URL for those that would rather use that for news before we get a different news view.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Easily done

  • The Helper The Helper:
https://www.thehelper.net/pages/news/ is a link to the old news portal - i will integrate it into the interface somewhere when i figure it out
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Need to try something
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hopefully this won't cause problems.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hmm
  • Ghan Ghan:
I have converted the Headline News forum to an Article type forum. It will now show the top 20 threads with more detail of each thread.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    See how we like that.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do not see a way to go past the 1st page of posts on the forum though
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is OK though for the main page to open up on the forum in the view it was before. As long as the portal has its own URL so it can be viewed that way I do want to try it as a regular forum view for a while
  • Ghan Ghan:
Yeah I'm not sure what the deal is with the pagination.
  • Ghan Ghan:
It SHOULD be there so I think it might just be an artifact of having an older style.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I switched it to a "Standard" article forum. This will show the thread list like normal, but the threads themselves will have the first post set up above the rest of the "comments"
  • The Helper The Helper:
I don't really get that article forum but I think it is because I have never really seen it used on a multi post thread
  • Ghan Ghan:
RpNation makes more use of it right now as an example: https://www.rpnation.com/news/
