I can't reboot my computer...

i cannot reboot my computer in windows
when i press the restart button, nothing happen
i can still do anything to my computer....
i need to press power button or the reset button to reboot or turn off my computer.... can any one help
my os is xp

You might be running some software in the background which refuses to exit.
Could be a spyware so grab Spybot S&D and AdAware, update and then scan.

i have scanned with ad-aware...
its still the same....
and, after the loading screen of windows,
there have a small window that pop up with the title"parser message"
it says RCINT failure. String table ID not found"43atline36"
it is just like getting worse............

goto into safe mode (press F8 a few times when you power on the pc)

use system restore to go back in time

its just the same in safe mode....
after i selected system restore,
it just doesnt restart.....

You could re-install

Is your computer a Dell? Seems to happen to those more often.

Also, have you changed the welcome screen? This is probably the problem. Or did you resHack logonui.exe?

Try google, I found quite a bit.
