and i believe thats all the major parts, aside from maybe a sound card and a wireless card(already have these) and a bunch of fans will this power it enough to spare when i get my graphics chip?

Or should i go for a 700W? Reason im looking at that one is the modularness the price and...ya looks solid with that rating.

Im also thinking of either using my laptop hard drive, some old ones i have in my back yard(think their 24 pin connectors though...or i may end up trading my friend my 3TB external for his TB internal(dunno if its internet or not yet...)

So 1.Is that everything i need for a working PC?
2.Is that power supply going to cut it(including future graphics chip)
3. any suggestions? this is an uber budget gaming PC if ya didnt notice...

And before i forget this is all going into a HAF 912 Coolmaster case which is ATX.

avoid the raidmax PSU - get a more reputable brand, and 500W should be enough - something like corsair, seasonic, antec, powerpc&cooling, OCZ, etc.

and I don't quite get why you would trade 3tb for 1tb, just disassemble it and install it in your computer - those external drives are just a regular drive in a plastic casing that comes off

computer part checklist:

cpu (+ cooler)
motherboard
ram
PSU
case
OS install disk/iso/etc.
hard drive or SSD drive (additional drives are optional)
graphics card (optional if mobo has integrated)
cd/dvd drive (optional, windows can be installed via flash drive or usb dvd drive)

*cough*
aparently check
intergrated, will add one later
have like 5 extra old ones...will they still work?

How about this one?

or 2nd is cheaper...although thats probably a bad thing..

either in tier 1 or 2 on this list ora good in-depth review from like johnny guru or someone who reviews PSU's

older ones are likely IDE instead of sata, check if you have that cable and if the motherboard supports it, they are being phased out

As slapshot said, 500 - 600 watt are enough these days, its of course always better to have a little bit too much instead of too little though.
And you should really look out for a good power supply, if its cheap and it gets a short circuit your hardware can take permanent damage.

News portal has been retired. Main page of site goes to Headline News forum now
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am working on getting access to the old news portal under a different URL for those that would rather use that for news before we get a different news view.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Easily done
    +1
  • The Helper The Helper:
https://www.thehelper.net/pages/news/ is a link to the old news portal - i will integrate it into the interface somewhere when i figure it out
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Need to try something
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hopefully this won't cause problems.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hmm
  • Ghan Ghan:
I have converted the Headline News forum to an Article type forum. It will now show the top 20 threads with more detail of each thread.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    See how we like that.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do not see a way to go past the 1st page of posts on the forum though
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is OK though for the main page to open up on the forum in the view it was before. As long as the portal has its own URL so it can be viewed that way I do want to try it as a regular forum view for a while
  • Ghan Ghan:
Yeah I'm not sure what the deal is with the pagination.
  • Ghan Ghan:
It SHOULD be there so I think it might just be an artifact of having an older style.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I switched it to a "Standard" article forum. This will show the thread list like normal, but the threads themselves will have the first post set up above the rest of the "comments"
  • The Helper The Helper:
I don't really get that article forum but I think it is because I have never really seen it used on a multi post thread
  • Ghan Ghan:
RpNation makes more use of it right now as an example: https://www.rpnation.com/news/
