Convert files to PDF for free

I was reading some Internet news and I came across this article

Which talked about 2 products that converted files to PDF. Great and good except both products mentioned are not as good as PDF Creator

i dont like pdfs, why r they used all over? they take forever to load, and are slow, and usually non-editable

I think they're more used for printing in a format that shows up on paper as it does on your screen.

PDF is a great format, you must be thinking about Adobe Acrobat Reader, which takes forever to load and is somewhat sluggish.
