There is a shrimp in exsistence with the power to release as much energy as the sun

No joke.

I believe that it's number 2 or 3 on the list. This is an animal that has, over time, evolved into a biological gun.

The rest of the animals are pretty awesome, too.

What esb said. If you were to heat a space the size of the head of a pin to the temperature of the sun for just a split second, everything in at least a mile radius would be incinerated.

Wow, the animals looks weird funny and cool at the Same Time

and Btw I am sure there are other undetected animals out there with more
power then this shrimp.

I doubt that the sum of energy produced by this species of shrimp over the entirety of its existence could match up to what the sun produces in one nanosecond.

Well, I RTFA and it said that as a hyperbolic metaphor. All it does is shoot a weak shock wave that can kill small marine life. Heroes can pretty much do that in Footies.

I'd really like to some calculations supporting that claim. Lets say one gram of iron heated to the temperature of the core of the sun and released in the atmosphere of the earth. You can assume an equal distribution of heat in all 8.0*10^12 (4*10^12 if released at ground level) liters of air and ocean level air pressure :)

No matter of the outcome I do think it would beat the shrimp...

I don't think that this is any facts at all. It depends on first of all, how much molecules there are around the heated object, what type of molecules are there, what temperature are there around the object.
There is a lot more questions to ask and answer before making such a statement.

Not to mention that if there is no molecules aroung the object to move, the heat get away, and also it would probably be pretty cold with vaccum and all.

If you compare this:
The Sun has a spectral class of G2V. G2 means that it has a surface temperature of approximately 5,780 K
From wikipedia

With this from the article that esb posted:
During bubble collapse, the inertia of the surrounding water causes high speed and high pressure, reaching around 10000 K in the interior of the bubble, causing the ionization of a small fraction of the noble gas present.

I would say that it is even hotter than the sun, if it was just based on that. But I think there is some thruth to the header of this post:eek:

And also, I would like to add this from my own expiriences:

If you got a lightning arc of about 1000volts, the air will be heated, just around it and only during the time that the arc is in existance, and not to forget the objects it arcs between. And that it get's pretty hot there aswell. BUT that is only beacuse of that the arc is electrons in movement, without any atoms, molecules or other subparticles in movement, there will be NO heat.

I hope that you people get what I mean:p

Edit:
It is shockwave btw, without the space.
But to the point. If the first quote here would had been a question as this: "What happens when something is as hot as the sun for a few picoseconds in water?", then this quote would be the answer:
All it does is shoot a weak shock wave that can kill small marine life.

Big explosion, my ass:p But in air, it may be a different story tho.

You're comparing a shrimp to a wc3 custom game?

I just read this line again:
causing the ionization of a small fraction of the noble gas present.

And I thought of something.
Is this not the theory behind the classical game superweapon, the Ion cannon?

For you who does not know, it is kind of a satellite that fires a ray of light wich incinerates everything in an area with pin-point accuracy.

If someone could get this working in air, wich is not really impossible at all.
Here is the chemical composition of air:
http://chemistry.about.com/od/chemistryfaqs/f/aircomposition.htm
Xenon(Xe), Argon(Ar), Helium(He) and Neon(Ne) being a noble gases.

It really has the potential to work, if someone where to build a satellite with some kind of module that could fire a beam of waves at a high enought frequenzy. Wich btw is not impossible that either, meaning that the only thing nessecary for this to work is superconductors that works in high heat, wich we somewhat got from the looks of another article I read here, and a device that can to send a high enought frequence that far.
Wich could perhaps be dealt with using the same principles as used for the common radio, with "carrier-waves".

What I meant was that it wasn't supposed to even be close to the power of the sun. But yeah, it's kinda like footies.

So we should turn the shrimps into WMD's? Fantastic idea  The shrimps will eventually revolt and fry our asses :p

Dude let's do it. Let's steal Jupiter's moon too, they don't need that many! We can probably get all the parts at local rent-a-centers.

Who said anything about parts?
I just said that it was the same princip with the shrimp and an IonCannon.

And no, You can't get all parts needed from an all day vendor store. There is a lot that would have to special made just for the project:p

I was not talking about building one, I just wanted to share my discovery and see if there was anyone who protested against it:p

A probate is usually done with a will, yes? If so I am sorry for your loss

Yeah Tom, me too sorry for your loss buddy my mom told me she finds out her olds friend died from Google searching them. She had not talked to one of her old friends in a year and found out she died from Google. Also another one in the same session. RIP all of them my sincere condolences Tom

We have some elderly guests that regularly come hang out at the bar at the end of the night, and every once in a while we don't see someone for a few weeks and then someone shows up with their obituary.
  • Varine Varine:
We usually let them do their memorials there in the morning if they want to and I'll make them some snacks and drinks. There was one guy named Tom that came in like every night and would sit by himself and get a bunch of soup and a glass of wine. idk why but he LOVED our fucking soup, like he would order a fucking quart of it at a time and would always get so sad when we stop doing it for the summer.

  • Varine Varine:
But he also loved our calamari, which is another thing I hate but it sells super well so I can't change it. There was one day he came in and was asking me how to make it, because he tried to at home once in the off season when we stop running it and he really wanted it lol
  • Varine Varine:
I think he's one of the only people I've made recipes for for free because he really wanted a broccoli cheddar, and it was like dude I don't have a recipe, it's just whatever I have, but here, this is how you do it
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think he ever figured out how to do the calamari in a pan though, like idk how to do that either. He was afraid of the at home deep fryers though and it's like yeah, that's fair, I am too
  • Varine Varine:
He was just such a sweet old man, we had two servers pregnant and they held a baby shower together, he was soooooo fucking excited to get to see a baby. Unfortunately he died a month or so before they were born
  • The Helper The Helper:
So I decided to Google some people that I had not seen or heard from in a while and sure enough one of my old best friends, we had a falling out years ago but whatever, find out he died of Pancreatic Cancer in January. I have also lost a few of my closer acquaintances from growing up the last year. Getting old - people die - I kinda thought it was going to be this way a few years ago....

    Forum running super slow again
  • Ghan Ghan:
Not really clear from the stats as to what is causing the slowness.
  • Ghan Ghan:
We get a lot of guest traffic so it may just be the load is getting too high and not from any particular source.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Looks like the server is maxed out on CPU.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Oh it looks like a lot of the traffic is Silkroad Forums. That domain isn't protected by Cloudflare.
  • Ghan Ghan:
But the old Silkroad site is still on its own server. I just had a test site set up on this server for it.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I just disabled that test site. Let's see if that helps the load.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Looks much better already.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I had actually forgot about the Silkroad site. I had asked
  • The Helper The Helper:
SD Ryoko about it and he said the couple of people left on there really like it, that was a few years ago, maybe I should check back
  • jonas jonas:
I guess when you're getting old, and the last day of soup season draws near, you start wondering
  • jonas jonas:
will I make it to the start of the next season? or was this the last time I'll ever have my favorite dish?
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am doing my first Vibe Coding project. In installed the environment and tools according to instructions but it is all chat doing this for me at my direction. It is fun really and holy shit I might finish in 2 hours what it would have taken a day to in my Access and this would be an electron app complete new
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Good stuff.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Just make sure it is secure. :)
