10 Steps To Complete A Successful Game

I have made a 10 step processes to complete a successful game. It has 4 parts, planning, implementation, refinement, and advertise. I believe this is the most straight forward way to make a game, to have the best expected results. The Main idea is help you find problems early as possible in your map, so you don’t spend time on a map that isn’t worth while to you. This isn’t a strict list, but the idea is to use it more as a guide to help you focus on making successful games and not waste time working on projects that were doomed to fail before they started.

Step 1 – Planning Phase 1
Idea
Outline (Main Concepts)
Research/Ask Others about Game concept (Get Feed Back)
Evaluate a time line to figure out how long you expect your game to take to make.
Evaluate how well you expect your game to be accepted.
Decide if it’s worth it you; too continue building your game. Accept or decline.

Step 2 – Planning Phase 2
Theme/Story Line – All Major Concepts (On Paper)
Artwork/ Models – All Major Ones. (On Paper what will be required)
Sound Effects – All Major Ones. (On Paper what will be required)
Functions – All Major Ones. (On paper, in an outline)
Research/Ask Others about Game concept (Get Feed Back)

Make 1st Draft (All of the pieces, with a clear cut outline)
Research/Ask Others about Game concept (Get Feed Back)
Create Time Line and Expected Acceptance of your game
Accept or decline Project.

Step 4 – Implementation Phase 1
Implement 1st Draft
Alpha Testing (Get Feed Back)
Find All Major Changes Needed.
Make 2ed Draft (All of the pieces, with a clear cut outline)
Create Time Line and Expected Acceptance of your game
Accept or decline Project.

Step 5 – Implementation Phase 2
Implement 2ed Draft
Alpha Testing (Get Feed Back)
Find All Minor Changes Needed.
Make 3rd Draft (All of the pieces, with a clear cut outline)
Create Time Line and Expected Acceptance of your game
Accept or decline Project.

Step 6 – Implementation Phase 3
Implement 3rd Draft
Alpha Testing (Get Feed Back)
Find all detail Changes Needed.
Make 4th Draft (All of the pieces, with a clear cut outline)
Create Time Line and Expected Acceptance of your game
Accept or decline Project.

Step 7 – Refinement 1
Implement 4th Draft
Beta Testing (Get Feed Back)
Check To see everything Functions as it should.
Make 5th Draft (All of the pieces, with a clear cut outline)
Create Time Line and Expected Acceptance of your game
Accept or decline Project.

Step 8 – Refinement 2
Implement 5th Draft

Suggestions/additions/Changes

I don't like the tutorial.
So many points, and most of them are the same.

Noone really plans the functions. You plan what you're going to do with functions, then just make the functions up as you go along.

Feed Back > Feedback

Why would you want a timeline about how long your project will take to make?

Tbh, It seems like you made 3 points, and copy and pasted each one 3 times, with minor changes.

Romek I agree, with you in the fact that most it is very much the same.
I Should be able to cut that text down by 60-70% to get the same point across.

Why is a time line important you ask?

Well to me helps me it helps me judge if the game is worth making or if i will have time to complete the task. If i expect it to take 10 hours and expect 10 people to play it. then maybe its not worth making. But everyone is the judge for them self's.

As For planing Functions.
No one really plans the functions. You plan what you're going to do with functions, then just make the functions up as you go along.

That is what i meant, But major is basically what i does, and minor is how often it gos off under what conditions.
how you make that function is just detail work and in my guide you don't do that till you are working on the game moment of.

Perhaps i should be more clear what i mean by major function, minor function, and detail.
Also for my grammar, i know its poor i did my best and ill work on that.

The 4 parts bit is definitely spot-on. But a lot of the items following that are kinda presumptuous.

All in all if a mapmaker couldn't figure most of this stuff out on their own they should be smacked, but I reserve that scrutinized planning is not always necessary. I have found winging it very effective and it's very easy for me to just go back and change or improve something on the fly.

Thats my way of teh mapz makin' though. Some people like planning everything out. I do fine the way i always have =D Always in great detail of course.

Looks like Google fixed whatever mistake that made the recipes on the site go crazy and we are no longer trending towards a recipe site lol - I don't care though because it motivated me to spend alot of time on the site improving it and at least now the content people are looking at is not stupid and embarrassing like it was when I first got back into this like 5 years ago.

Plus - I have a pretty bad ass recipe collection now! That section of the site is 10 thousand times better than it was before

They also were digging threw old shit at the sheriff's office and I tried to get them to give me the old electronic stuff, but they said no. They can't give it to people because they might use it to impersonate a cop or break into their network or some shit? idk but it was a shame to see them take a whole bunch of radios and shit to get shredded and landfilled

  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am not big on the recipes I am just promoting them - I use the site as a practice place promoting stuff

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.
