14 Hours Making A Game and It Broke Help!

I Spent 14 hours making a game and i didnt finish i used vexorians map optimizer on it i dunno if that is the problem since i didnt save it for that folder but whenever i try to open it all it comes up with is
Unable to load file G\WarcraftIII\Maps\Download\ World of Warcraft Cataclysm
Level info data missing or invalid
PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!

Sorry, I feel so bad for laughing, but I couldn't help it.

I'm sure that if you've done your homework or read the README file..
You'd know that a map optimizer does that to a map.

You should always:
01) Keep a back up copy
02) Keep a back up of the back up copy
03) ???
04) Profit

There might be a way to recover some portion of it, though..
What did you have inside?
Custom models? textures? sounds? icons?
How many triggers?

Mind uploading the protected map?

You can open the file in a text editor and be uber l33t and edit it that way.

He can at least upload it and pray someone with a lot of time and boredom try for 5minutes.
I would have liked to spend 5 minutes doing something other than waiting for a reply on one of my "HALP ME, kthxbye" threads xD

There's a possibility that your world editor made a backup at Maps/Test/WorldEditTestMap.w3x .

Unless there is a backup, it's grounded.




the tool should've really been more specific. But you realize it strips the map of all non-game essential variables and such. including the information the editor needs to extract in order to display the map. What if the map optimizer worked my deleting all custom models and automatically swapping them with the most "appropriate" default model? Lesson learned, look into what 3rd party programs do, they are usually made for a very specific purpose. I hate to say I laughed at the first post, but it was a good chuckle.

When I saw the words "map optimizer" and the word "broke" in the same sentence I instantly chuckled.

Anyways, tough luck, next time make backup files. At least make version files every time you make a major change to the map.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's a way back. I can't believe you didn't even bother making backup files. Every time i make a change I always save it under a new name like Ubermap v0.01 and then next time Ubermap v0.02 and so on.

So, upload it and hope someone with leet programming skills can help you uncrack your map. But if you're even more unfortunate, you'll be left with only Jass to edit once the map is opened.

so you optimized the actual map you were working on?..
that's not the way to do it..

Optimizer 'stripped' WE data from the file.. making it only playable and not editable.
