Adding skills to Heroes via trigger and make them learnable?

When I add a skill to a Hero, it is added but isn't learnable (meaning you can't learn it via the red cross). How would I do this? I know custom hero line wars managed to do it and so did a few other maps.

Help greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this will work, haven't tested it in-game, just set whatever events/conditions you feel fit and then add these actions.

Trigger:
  • Untitled Trigger 001
    • Events
    • Conditions
    • Actions
      • Hero - Learn skill for (Learning Hero): Acid Bomb
      • Hero - Modify unspent skill points of (Learning Hero): Set to 1 points

You can create a new hero using last killed heroes items, hp , exp ;) but that would be a lot of work

doesn't work.

in hero line wars, they use the tinker ability (dont know the name, the 3rd one which improves his other skills) which replaces a dummy ability with the new hero ability. They then disable the tinker ability for the player. That way the hero can learn the abilities.
But you have to create 2 abilities (one normal and the tinker thing) and 4 dummy abilities (some item abilities, or channel with no visibility) for this to work.

Thats because Light Stalker you'll need a trigger like:
Trigger:
  • Learn Abillity
    • Events
      • Time - Times Up expires
    • Conditions
    • Actions
      • Unit - pick every unit in (playable map area) matching (Matching Unit) is a hero equal to true and do (Actions)
        • Loop - Actions
          • For each integer A from 1 to 4
            • Loop - Actions
              • If all (Conditions) are true, then do (Actions)
                • If (Conditions)
                  • (Picked Unit) has item-type in slot Integer A Acid Bomb
                • Then (Actions)
                  • Item - Remove item Acid Bomb from (Picked Unit)
                  • Hero - Learn skill for (Picked Unit): Acid Bomb
                  • Hero - Modify unspent skill points of (Picked): Set to 1 points
                • Else (Actions)

Takes ages but gets it done. I believe this is how Custom Hero Line Wars did it
OFFTOPIC: I like this trigger because (like many) it is freehand =D

@ Hydra Rancher:

I believe he wants to give a hero a ability and make it learnable which the hero doesnt have from the beginning and if so your trigger will fail. (Test it if you dont believe me)

Take a look at my post above.

So what do I do?

Do I need 2 abilities per spell?

The Tinker ability you are referring to is Engineering Upgrade. If you read THIS it will explain how to do what DonRoman was talking about.

You will have to modify the triggers used in this tutorial a bit but it shows you everything you need to make it work. I hope this helps.

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
